Chapter 17: Recollections of a Past Life (Oliver’s Perspective)

Approximately 300 years had passed, and Vincent was reincarnated as Oliver, a member of the royal family in a neighboring country. The contracted spirit, Lala, seemed genuinely bored.

“Lauri-sama… No, is your name Leefe-sama in this life? You truly came to this country. Moreover, the hospitality is so extravagant.”

“Yeah. It ended up being a temporary engagement, but at least it’s nice that you’ll be by my side for a while.”

Oliver responded with a cheerful smile, but Lala hadn’t forgotten what happened in their past lives.

“In her previous life, she was cursed to protect Oliver-sama. Afterward, the forbidden spell you requested from the Demon King to lift the curse is not effective in this life. In other words, her memories taken as the price for the forbidden spell might be restored now, right?”

“I plan to talk about that later. Don’t go tell Leefe about it on your own, alright? Lala.”

“Yes. I understand.”

With a dissatisfied expression, Lala reluctantly agreed.

In her past life, Lauri had fallen under a curse. Lauri was a black magician, and she shouldn’t have shown a vulnerability to being cursed like that. However, her overly kind nature, despite possessing immense power, became her downfall. She misunderstood that Vincent had exploited her weakness and was easily cursed. She was easily cursed.

There was another issue in a different direction. Lala seemed to have sensed Oliver’s complicated expression and chuckled.

“Oliver-sama. Even if she regains her memories, saying something like ‘I was your lover in the past life, so marry me’ would usually be off-putting. Even if memories return, there are values and perspectives in this life, right?”

“…Lala.”

Oliver sighed as if asking her to spare him. What Lala said perfectly echoed Oliver’s own concerns.

It seemed that the chatter of a contracted spirit was constant regardless of the master-servant relationship.
