Chapter 106-Part 2

After calming Sun Xu, Wang Jingjing went to find Sister Chen. These days, for some reason, every time she spoke with Sister Chen, the agent seemed absent-minded. In this urgent situation, why was Sister Chen so unconcerned? Could she be regretting her decisions?

Sister Chen still dared not tell anyone about what had happened between her and President Meng. She couldn’t afford to reveal such a shameful affair. Nor did she dare to make a big fuss, swallowing this bitter pill and resenting Wang Jingjing’s bad ideas. Jiang Nian had already fallen, so why send her to President Meng and potentially harm her further? It would be best if these two women fought against each other, leading to their mutual destruction!

Compared to Wang Jingjing, Sun Xu, and Sister Chen, Jiang Nian’s days were much easier. Every day, besides contemplating her desperate life, she indulged in eating and drinking to fill her stomach and gather strength to continue contemplating her hopeless life. She also took some time to deal with these annoying bugs.

One day, she went out as usual to eat and drink. After consuming two steaks, a bowl of mushroom soup, and some salad, she still felt unsatisfied and ordered a matcha-flavored small cake.

Xue Hang couldn’t help but stare; although surprised at Jiang Nian’s enormous appetite, he couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for her. This woman seemed filled with despair, and now she was probably using her appetite to comfort her wounded soul.

With this thought, he could understand. He just hoped she could quickly overcome the shadow of being betrayed by her boyfriend and friend.

“Before going abroad, I particularly liked the steaks here. After going abroad, I dreamed of coming back to taste it. This time, I couldn’t wait and came here immediately. Thank you, Mr. Xue, for making it a delightful evening for me.” A woman in a ladylike long dress smiled gently at Xue Hang. She raised her glass, and Xue Hang withdrew his gaze, raising his glass in response.

Lowering his gaze, Xue Hang cut a piece of steak and put it in his mouth. “As long as you’re happy.”

The woman’s smile became sweeter. “I’ve been abroad for four years, and Z City has changed a lot during these years. Many places are unrecognizable now. If there’s a chance, Mr. Xue, can you accompany me to explore?”

Xue Hang smiled. “Sorry, I might not have the time. Miss Wu, I believe you can understand the pressure from my family’s elders. I have no intention of getting married.”

Wu Han’s smile slightly changed but remained graceful. “Mr. Xue, you brought up these things during our first meeting. It would make me quite sad.”

Xue Hang picked up a napkin to wipe his lips. “I’ll have my assistant send you back. I’ve taken up enough of your time today.”

Wu Han was smart. Although she didn’t want to give up, with Xue Hang putting it this way, if she insisted, she might not even get this bit of courtesy. She could only leave. Standing up, she looked at Xue Hang, who was elegantly dressed in a suit. “Then I’ll leave first. Until next time.”

Xue Hang nodded. “Hmm.”

Watching Wu Han walk away, Xue Hang rubbed his forehead, feeling a headache.

He was only thirty years old this year, but it seemed like his family was afraid he would become a lifelong bachelor. They constantly introduced him to girls and urged him to attend blind dates. If he didn’t, they would make a scene, making it hard for him to even enter his home. He had no choice but to come out and ease his family’s worries. Unexpectedly, he had encountered Jiang Nian again.

Jiang Nian had finished the small cake and was ready to pay and leave when she heard the waiter tell her that someone had already paid for her bill. She was very surprised. In her current miserable state, someone was secretly paying for her? Who was this fairy?

She looked around. “May I ask who paid for my bill?”

The waiter cautiously gestured to a nearby window seat. Jiang Nian turned her head and saw a man wearing a dark suit with a bow tie, meticulously refined from head to toe. He held a tall glass and nodded slightly to her, and the silver-framed glasses on his nose made him appear even more refined and courteous.

He exudes an elegant temperament with an air of sophistication.

Unexpectedly, it’s the good guy’s (big) thigh!

Jiang Nian realized she was wrong. No matter how small Xue Hang’s thigh was, it was still a thigh and much stronger than hers! Now that she’s in such a miserable state, she actually has the audacity to complain about others. Blame her previous life for being too….too wealthy and nurturing her heart too much. She must reflect on herself…

Whether it’s an illusion or not, Xue Hang distinctly felt that Jiang Nian’s heart, which had been occupied by despair and darkness, seemed to brighten up a bit. Until she got closer, he even felt like he could hear the sound of her heart laughing.

“^▽^”

… This is a bit too much, and it’s really pitiful. Perhaps being bullied so miserably and betrayed so harshly makes even a little help, a little goodness, warm her heart.

“Benefactor!” ^^

“Pfft—”

… You can think it in your heart; why shout it out loud!!!
