Chapter 34-Part 1

In the study, Qi Xing’s expression was heavy.

“For these past few months, Master Yun Gui has been secluded, researching young master Yun’s condition. It seems he has no time to spare to focus on making scar removal ointment.”

Xu Jiahui replied softly, “I understand.”

She couldn’t help but smile inexplicably.

Just a few boxes of scar removal ointment—how much extra effort would it take? What could possibly distract Master Yun Gui?

In the past, she used to adore Qi Xing wholeheartedly. Whatever he said, she believed. Perhaps she would have been deceived by such reasons.

But since she heard the sincere words he spoke to Qi Huan, Xu Jiahui understood that this man in front of her only saw her as convenient, using her effortlessly.

Could she still be convenient?

Xu Jiahui thought sadly. To please Qi Xing, she would rush to eliminate his enemies at the slightest furrow of his brow. There was no expectation of return, just hoping he would look at her a little longer and speak a few more words to her.

At one point, she even thought that as long as she could help Qi Xing, she was willing to do anything.

Even when she helped Qi Xing catch the unnamed pharmacist and ended up disfiguring her face, she never blamed him; she only cursed the pharmacist as shameless and malicious.

But how did Qi Xing treat her?

Qi Huan deliberately abstained from bidding on the scar removal ointment. When Qi Xing found out, he casually scolded him and easily bypassed him.

At that moment, Xu Jiahui realized very clearly that Qi Huan was Qi Xing’s son, the offspring of the woman Qi Xing liked. And she? Just a pawn.

A pawn could be discarded at will, but a son was connected by blood.

He said it nicely, but Xu Jiahui seriously doubted whether Qi Xing had gone to the Yun family to ask for medicine. Perhaps he just casually made up an excuse to appease her?

Anyway, he thought she was just a naive woman who believed whatever was said and was not worth the effort.

Xu Jiahui thought to herself with self-deprecation.

Just as Xu Jiahui’s thoughts were in turmoil, Qi Xing sighed lightly. “Once Master Yun Gui is done with this busy period, I will go to the Yun family to ask for medicine. I will definitely cure you.”

Xu Jiahui found herself without any ripples in her heart, putting on a look of joy on her face.

“Thank you, Master.”

“You’ve been working for me for many years, and this time it’s because of my injury. How could I not take care of you?” Qi Xing’s tone softened.

With tears in her eyes, Xu Jiahui seemed touched.

“Thank you for your concern, Master. I’ll go out for a walk.” She was afraid she would vomit if she stayed any longer.

Qi Xing nodded. “It’s good to relax.”

With teary eyes, Xu Jiahui left.

As soon as she left the study, she immediately turned icy.

Could she still have a chance to heal her scars in this lifetime by relying on Qi Xing?

When only Qi Xing was left in the study, he frowned deeply and tapped the table lightly.

“Why did Yun Tian refuse? Hasn’t he always hoped that I and Master Yun Gui would work together to study his strange illness? Before, I declined because I was focused on managing the store, but this time, I took the initiative to come to him. He should have eagerly agreed, selling me a favor. Why…?”

Qi Xing suddenly had a not-so-good guess.

Although she went to the pharmacy to see the treasure of the store, Tang Xin couldn’t resist buying food from a roadside stall.

With a skewer of grilled meat in her left hand and a drink in her right, she enjoyed herself immensely.

After a few bites, Tang Xin suddenly noticed candied chestnuts in the distance. Without saying a word, she handed the skewer of grilled meat to Yan Hao and ran to buy them.

Yan Hao remained expressionless, watching his master go far away. She even wanted to give him the skewer she had already bitten into. This was… clinging to him tightly, teasing him at every opportunity.

With a suspicious smirk, Yan Hao happily finished the remaining skewer.

Tang Xin bought the candied chestnuts and returned cheerfully. Seeing the bamboo skewer thrown on the ground, she instantly froze. “You, you, you…”

She just asked him to hold it; why did he silently eat it all up? What’s more, she had already taken a bite of the skewer.
