Chapter 28: Engagement Party- Part 6

The one who came to Leefe’s rescue who didn’t know what to answer, was Aurelia.

“Oh my, Lady Sonia, it seems you’re being quite rude towards Lady Leefe. The way you just spoke sounded like you’re saying you’re superior and demanding the seat next to you,” Aurelia said.

“N-No, that’s not it. I’m just stating facts.”

“Conversations that evaluate the other party in such a manner lack refinement.”

“What…!?”

However, it seemed the conversation had taken an unexpected turn. The conversation between Aurelia and Sonia, without Leefe’s involvement, had started to cause a stir among the others.

Sonia’s delicate ladylike facade had slipped, revealing a hint of a fierce expression. Although Aurelia appeared composed and smiled outwardly, it was evident from the aura she emitted that she wasn’t entirely at ease.

(Just another typical chaotic situation…)

Honestly, Leefe didn’t care about her own evaluation. She felt sorry for Oliver, who had ended up engaged to an insignificant young lady with no outstanding qualities like herself, but living peacefully and calmly was her top priority.

However, normally she would have used a potion to escape before getting deeply involved, but unfortunately, Leefe was one of the central figures today. It seemed she couldn’t escape this time.

As Leefe struggled to decide what to do, the argument between the two continued.

“I thought Lady Aurelia studied potion-making under the royal court mage because she wanted to stay by Prince Oliver’s side? Isn’t Lady Aurelia the most unsettled about this engagement?” Sonia retorted.

“Hehe, Lady Sonia, your imagination tends towards the tasteless. I must say, I’m surprised.”

“What! Say that again!”

(Eek…)

Indeed, the two, both from prestigious families in the Shinwood Empire, were overflowing with magic as they argued. While Leefe was used to being treated as a villain, she was getting tired of being dragged into real-life chaotic situations. She just wanted to escape.

(There are people like me born with high magical abilities by chance, but generally, those born into prestigious families have stronger magic and become skilled practitioners of advanced magic. So, when they lose control of their emotions, it’s a big deal… But why? Why am I being dragged into this mess?)

“These two seem to have quite a history. It’s really entertaining when it’s not your own business,” Rene casually remarked.

“It’s not the time for jokes. Things could get really bad,” Leefe replied.

“Yeah. At this rate, this hall might catch fire,” Rene added.

Previously, Leefe, enraged and filled with magic, had burnt her own hands. It was only because she was a skilled dark mage that she had managed to contain it with her hands.

But such control was limited. The young ladies who had been watching like spectators hurriedly began evacuating as the atmosphere crackled and heated up, despite there being no fire.

“It’s a disaster! Lady Aurelia and Lady Sonia are fighting again! Evacuate—”

“No way! It’s never escalated to this before!”

“It seems both of them truly like Prince Oliver.”

“Rather than that, we should hurry and escape! This might turn out worse than the curtain fire from three years ago!”

As the tension in the room rose, Leefe’s face contorted.

(Was burning the curtain in a fight really just a small mishap? Could it have been a catastrophe if it had gone slightly differently?)

“Hey Rene, do something.”

“Should I use teleportation magic to escape with the young ladies?”

“No! Stop joking; think of a more fundamental solution.”

“Ah, well. Whether I can do it or not is another matter, but how about temporarily neutralizing their magic?”

“Yeah, that’s it.” Leefe nodded at Rene’s suggestion.

“That’s your specialty as a dark mage, isn’t it?” Rene grinned.
