Chapter 58-Part 1

However, when she bit him, her soft lips pressed against his wrist. It felt more like a kiss than a bite. Her teeth didn’t hurt; they only left a tingling sensation.

Ji Ran finished biting and threw his wrist aside.

Next to her, the boy suppressed a laugh and said quietly, “Ji Ran, do you want to study with me?”

Ji Ran’s heart skipped a beat.

Although he said “study,” his tone was so gentle and lingering, like countless threads wrapping around her heart. Each word he spoke stirred her deeply.

Studying was just studying, but the way he said it felt like a marriage proposal.

It sounded like, “Ji Ran, do you want to marry me?”

After New Year’s, the winter became increasingly cold, and going to school became increasingly challenging. Wen Qianxia was practically counting down the days, always wondering when the holidays would come.

Although the winter break wasn’t as long as the summer break, it was still one of the two long breaks of the year.

Who wouldn’t look forward to it?

Besides, the winter break meant the spring festival was near, and as high school students, they were still in the phase of receiving red envelopes. No one would refuse the winter break.

Recently, Ji Ran’s life has been quite peaceful.

Jiang Liqi, perhaps due to her age and needing to take care of her pregnancy, was frequently in and out of the hospital. She even considered hiring a nanny to take care of her at home.

Although Aunt Zhao didn’t dare to say anything openly, Jiang Liqi’s idea implicitly questioned her caregiving skills.

Ji Ran couldn’t be bothered to watch her fuss.

She didn’t expect anything from this unexpected child, nor did she harbor any ill intentions. She just pretended the child didn’t exist.

Until she unintentionally encountered Jiang Yi at the school gate, someone she hadn’t seen in a long time.

It was around noon, and Ji Ran and Wen Qianxia were heading to the snack street across the street. As they reached the roadside, two sports cars roared up from a distance.

The loud engines caught the attention of many students at the school gate.

Even Wen Qianxia couldn’t help but pull Ji Ran to watch, whispering, “Those sports cars are so beautiful.”

Ji Ran nodded. Of course, one was a Lamborghini and the other a Ferrari, both top-notch supercars with stunning appearances.

When the cars stopped near the school gate, many students couldn’t help but look over.

Ji Ran wasn’t interested. She tugged Wen Qianxia’s arm and whispered, “Didn’t you want to eat at that teppanyaki place today? If we’re late, there might not be any seats left.”

A new teppanyaki place had just opened near the school gate, and it was always packed because it was delicious.

Wen Qianxia, though she found the sports cars attractive, was more tempted by food. She hooked her arm around Ji Ran’s and started walking forward.

Just then, the people in the cars seemed to be waiting for someone and noticed them passing by.

A person in the passenger seat said, “Yue, look at that pretty girl.”

The man driving had been texting with his hands on the steering wheel. Hearing this, he glanced up.

He only caught a glimpse of her profile as she walked by.

But the brief glance and her retreating figure seemed appealing.

“Go stop her and let me take a look,” Shen Yue said, tapping the person in the passenger seat.

The blond man in the passenger seat chuckled.

“Yue, are you interested?”

“Interested your mom. I haven’t even seen her face,” Shen Yue retorted, giving him a disdainful look.

As they spoke, someone tapped on Shen Yue’s car window. When he looked over and smiled, he opened the door, got out, and wrapped an arm around the person’s waist, saying softly, “You’re here.”

Jiang Yi hadn’t expected him to hug her at the school gate, especially with so many students watching.

She wriggled her waist and whispered, “Don’t do that. This is my school gate.”

“What’s there to worry about? What about your school?” Shen Yue glanced at the school gate, scoffing, “My family has donated a lot of money to this school. If any teacher dares to scold you, tell me, and I’ll deal with them.”

Shen Yue was exaggerating.

But his family had indeed donated to the school, so it wasn’t entirely a lie.

Jiang Yi asked curiously, “Did your family really donate to our school?”

“Come on, let’s talk in the car.”

Shen Yue led her to the passenger seat.

The blond man in the passenger seat had been relegated to the other car. As Shen Yue opened the car door for Jiang Yi, Ji Ran turned around while waiting at the crosswalk.

She turned because Wen Qianxia had noticed Jiang Yi being embraced by a man and whispered to Ji Ran, “Jiang Yi is bold, getting so close to a boy right at the school gate. But I heard many girls in Class Twelve have boyfriends outside of school.”

Many Class Twelve students were preparing to pursue art careers and didn’t focus much on academics. Even if they didn’t get into college, they could go abroad.

Many had connections, and plenty of art schools were waiting for them.

Since Wen Qianxia mentioned Jiang Yi, Ji Ran was naturally curious.

When she turned around, she happened to meet Shen Yue’s gaze.

At that moment, Shen Yue was stunned, staring directly at her. The girl in the distance was truly breathtaking.

A seventeen-year-old girl was bundled up in winter clothes, but her face was exceptionally delicate and petite. Her bright eyes and red lips, along with her skin so fair that it seemed the sunlight was dancing on it, gave her a pure and captivating appearance. She was like a begonia flower, gently blooming on a branch, impossible to look away from.

Shen Yue’s dazed expression was caught by Jiang Yi.

When she looked up, the girl who had been waiting at the crosswalk began to walk forward as the light turned green, leaving behind a quiet and straight back.

Even that back view made Shen Yue reluctant to look away.

Jiang Yi felt both angry and annoyed. Just a moment ago, this man had been flirting with her, and now he was staring blankly at someone else.

And that person was Ji Ran.

Although Jiang Yi hadn’t seen Ji Ran’s face, the back view was enough for her to recognize her.

It’s like the one who knows you best is always your enemy.

Initially, Jiang Yi was furious at Shen Yue for staring at Ji Ran, but soon, an idea flashed through her mind.

She had witnessed the Christmas confession from downstairs.

The splendid fireworks and the drone flying high in the sky were still talked about, even though some time had passed.

Even if no one admitted it, everyone assumed it was Shen Zhi.

Only he would dare to act so recklessly, and only he could pull off such a grand gesture.

Jiang Yi admitted she was jealous of Ji Ran because Ji Ran had everything she wanted but could never have—the identity of the Ji family’s eldest daughter and Shen Zhi’s affection.

These were things she desperately desired but could not obtain.

If she couldn’t have them, she would destroy them.

“You won’t be able to win her over,” Jiang Yi suddenly said.

When Shen Yue turned to look at her, Jiang Yi’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “She’s the type of good student who definitely won’t date early.”

“Definitely won’t?” Shen Yue laughed lightly.

Honestly, he had never met a girl he couldn’t win over.

If he wanted to, he could; it was just a matter of whether he was willing to spend the money.

But this girl, Shen Yue, recalled the glimpse of her beautiful face, which was worth the effort.
