Chapter 325: Childhood Friends Must Be Cultivated from a Young Age (8)
An Ziyu looked up at her and said softly, “Luo Luo.”
Shen Mubai responded, “Hmm?”
An Ziyu continued, “If you like eating them, I’ll give all of them to you in the future.”
This time, it was Shen Mubai’s turn to be stunned.
An Ziyu smiled at her and said, “As long as Luo Luo is happy.”
A few days later, Shen Mubai received a drawing from him. The little figure in the picture was quite ugly, and she couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time.
In a soft, babyish voice, An Ziyu whispered, “Don’t tell my mom or Aunt Xiao.”
Shen Mubai asked, “Why?”
An Ziyu replied, “Because Mom might be unhappy if she knew.”
Shen Mubai was puzzled.
“Why?”
An Ziyu, feeling a bit embarrassed, said in his baby voice, “Because the first person I drew was Luo Luo.”
Shen Mubai felt a mix of amusement and warmth.
“Is this how you see me?”
An Ziyu nodded.
“Luo Luo is the prettiest.”
Shen Mubai looked at the figure in the drawing and couldn’t bring herself to hurt his feelings.
When they were in elementary school, Zhou Ruoyun started working again. Because of her job, she couldn’t take care of her son properly and asked for help from Xiao Xueqing’s family. Having been neighbors for many years, Xiao Xueqing and Zhou Ruoyun had a great relationship, so this was no problem.
Since the school was nearby, Xiao Xueqing took care of picking them up and dropping them off until they were in fourth grade. After that, Shen Mubai and An Ziyu went to and from school together.
Their good looks naturally made them stand out in school and in their class. Since they often went to and from school together and went home together, some people thought they were siblings.
Whenever someone said that, An Ziyu would argue, “She’s not my sister.”
He looked like a little prince with his delicate features and aloof demeanor, which made the little girls in class want to catch his attention.
When they heard An Ziyu’s strong reaction, they would gather around curiously, asking, “Then what is she?”
An Ziyu would purse his lips and say, “She’s Aunt Xiao’s daughter, not my sister, and she’s younger than me.”
One girl pointed out, “But she looks taller than you.”
An Ziyu was taken aback. He hadn’t noticed this until someone mentioned it. Indeed, Luo Luo was a bit taller than him.
Feeling unhappy, he glared at the girl and said in his baby voice, “So what?”
With his pretty features and fair skin, unlike the other boys who were always playing sports and getting tanned, his angry, babyish voice sounded more like he was pouting.
The girl wasn’t scared; instead, her face turned red, and she whispered, “I was just saying.”
An Ziyu didn’t respond. He gripped his pen and sulked at his desk.
During gym class, An Ziyu lagged behind while the other boys ran around like wild monkeys. Distracted, he thought about what the girl had said.
He then wondered, Why does it matter if Luo Luo is taller? Luo Luo likes him the most, and he likes Luo Luo too. He liked hugging her and kissing her cheek, even though he had to stand on his tiptoes each time.
Feeling a bit aggrieved, he didn’t understand why, but he felt very sad.
