Assistant Xiaoguai noticed how seriously she was taking her notes and felt even more sympathy and pity.

“Sister Xiaoxing, how about I go buy you something tasty tonight?”

She thought she must replenish her energy—just look at how the sun had tanned her skin and how the sweat was pouring off of her.

Shen Mubai had no idea what Xiaoguai was saying; she just nodded absentmindedly and continued taking notes.

Later that evening, she saw that Xiaoguai had bought some nourishing soup along with a variety of dishes, all meant for a big energy boost.

Feeling a bit exasperated, Shen Mubai said, “Xiaoguai, why did you buy so much food?”

Xiaoguai replied, “Sister Xiaoxing, you worked so hard today, and the crew’s meals aren’t that great. I bought this to help you recover.”

Shen Mubai didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

It was way too much food for her to finish.

Thinking of Yu Jingchen, she decided to send some over to him.

Yu Jingchen seemed a little embarrassed, his face still showing his usual shy expression.

Shen Mubai thought he was about to decline, so she quickly said, “My assistant bought too much. The two of us can’t finish it all, and it’d be a waste to throw it away.”

He lifted his eyelashes and said softly, “Then thank you, Sister Xiaoxing.”

Shen Mubai waved her hand. “No need to be so polite. We’re good friends, and we’ll be acting together tomorrow. You know I’m not that great at acting, so I’ll be counting on your help.”

Yu Jingchen smiled softly, his voice gentle as he said, “Senior Sister Xiaoxing is very good.”

Shen Mubai noticed that although he was still shy, he seemed much more comfortable than when they first met. She said, “Don’t call me Senior Sister anymore; just call me Sister Xiaoxing.”

Yu Jingchen obediently called out, “Sister Xiaoxing.”

Shen Mubai couldn’t help but ask, “How’s your new assistant treating you?”

Yu Jingchen paused for a moment.

Shen Mubai continued, “I just noticed you have a new assistant, so I wanted to ask.”

His eyes showed a brief flicker of thought before he smiled sheepishly.

“Very good.”

Shen Mubai sighed in relief.

“That’s good. I won’t disturb you anymore. Good night.”

Yu Jingchen gazed at her, smiling softly. “Good night, Sister Xiaoxing.”

The next morning, Shen Mubai found herself trending on social media again.

Li Hong called her, and Shen Mubai complained, “I was really taking proper notes! If you don’t believe me, ask Xiaoguai.”

Xiaoguai chimed in from the side, “It’s true, Sister Hong. Sister Xiaoxing was really studying the acting techniques.”

Li Hong was speechless.

She had only wanted to remind Tang Xiaoxing not to act so mindlessly in situations like this.

People would assume she was deliberately putting on a show to clean up her image.

The paparazzi had intentionally chosen a particular angle just to make her look bad.

But since the damage was done, Li Hong could only sigh.

“I understand. Just focus on your acting for now. If anything comes up, call me for advice. And Xiaoguai, make sure you know what to say and do in situations like this.”
