Li Yunze laughed angrily.

“Tang Xiaoxing, are you actually asking me to apologize to him?”

Shen Mubai replied coldly, “Is there a problem with that?”

Li Yunze felt his chest tighten with anger.

He glanced at Yu Jingchen, whose eyes were downcast and face pale, and sneered, “A counterfeit will always be just a counterfeit.”

Then he turned and walked away.

Shen Mubai held back her irritation and turned to Yu Jingchen.

“You don’t need to bother with people like him.”

Yu Jingchen lowered his gaze, his eyelashes trembling slightly.

“Sister Xiaoxing, can I ask you a question?”

Shen Mubai said, “Ask whatever you want.”

Yu Jingchen bit his lower lip, then lifted his watery eyes and asked, “I heard… you and Senior Li used to date?”

Shen Mubai was about to ask where he had heard that, but after thinking it over, she realized it wasn’t much of a secret.

So she simply said, “Yes, we dated for a while.”

Yu Jingchen hesitated.

“Do you… still like Senior Li?”

His eyes locked onto hers without blinking.

Shen Mubai felt a moment of discomfort under his gaze and quickly denied it.

“What’s there to like about him? That’s all in the past.”

Yu Jingchen’s dark eyes brightened instantly, and he gave a soft smile.

“That’s good.”

He thought to himself, “Even if she did see me as a substitute in the beginning, so what? All I care about is the future. Even if she still likes Li Yunze now, I’ll carve him out of her heart, completely and utterly.”

Shen Mubai was slightly stunned by his expression.

Yu Jingchen quickly explained, “Sister Xiaoxing… I just think Senior Li probably isn’t a good person…”

He bit his lower lip and said guiltily, “I know it’s wrong to speak badly about someone behind their back, but I…”

Shen Mubai cut him off, “No, you’re right. That guy is trash.”
