Chapter 443: Heard You Got Shelved (48)
At this point, Yu Jingchen would always put on an innocent and wounded expression, and Tang Xiaoxing would come out to defend him, scolding Li Yunze angrily.
The more Li Yunze thought about it, the more wrong everything felt.
Recently, during their scenes together, he was constantly overshadowed by Yu Jingchen.
Director Xu was already dissatisfied with him, and now every time the director looked at him, his face was as dark as a burnt clay pot.
Suddenly, Li Yunze realized that Yu Jingchen was not as simple as he appeared.
The events that followed only confirmed his suspicion.
During a wire-hanging stunt, Li Yunze encountered an accident and almost fell from above.
If not for sheer luck, he might have been lying in a hospital bed by now.
However, no one in the props team admitted any fault, and even the footage reviewed revealed no issues.
In the end, it was classified as an accident.
But Li Yunze had a gut feeling that this incident was somehow related to Yu Jingchen.
He couldn’t produce any evidence, yet an inexplicable premonition told him that Yu Jingchen was involved.
Every time he saw Yu Jingchen’s shy, modest smile, he couldn’t help but grind his teeth in frustration, feeling that the man was nothing more than a cunning little white lotus.
Yet, Tang Xiaoxing seemed to fall for it every time.
The more Li Yunze thought about it, the more indignant he became.
After seeing Yu Jingchen head to the restroom, he quickly followed.
Standing there, he leaned against the wall, looking sideways at Yu Jingchen with a sneer. “There’s no one else here, so drop the act.”
Yu Jingchen looked up innocently, his pure and naive eyes meeting Li Yunze’s gaze.
With a slightly embarrassed smile, he said, “Senior Li, what do you mean by this?”
Li Yunze frowned.
“You act pretty well in front of Tang Xiaoxing, don’t you? Enough with the sympathy act. At best, you’re just a substitute. What do you have that can compare to me? She’ll never love you.”
Yu Jingchen’s eyelashes fluttered uneasily, his soft voice trembling slightly.
“I really don’t understand what Senior Li means. If this is about Sister Xiaoxing…”
He gathered his courage and raised his eyes.
“She said she doesn’t like you anymore.”
Li Yunze sneered, “Do you even know how much she used to love me?”
Yu Jingchen’s eyes locked onto him, and then he slowly smiled.
“I know.”
Li Yunze smirked triumphantly.
“You’re just my substitute. Have you noticed how your features resemble mine just a little bit?”
Yu Jingchen lowered his gaze, hiding the gloom in his eyes, and spoke calmly, “Senior Li, I really don’t understand why you’re telling me this. There’s still a scene to shoot later, so I’ll be going now.”
As he spoke, he flicked the water droplets from his hands and turned to leave.
Li Yunze called out angrily, “Yu Jingchen! Was it you who tampered with the wire during my stunt?”
Yu Jingchen paused mid-step.
For a brief moment, Li Yunze’s eyes lit up with triumph, but then Yu Jingchen turned slightly and spoke in an innocent tone, “Senior Li, do you really think I have that kind of capability?”
Li Yunze was about to retort, but Yu Jingchen continued, “I know Senior Li holds a grudge against me, but if you truly believe I’m responsible for that incident, then there’s nothing I can do to convince you otherwise.”
His voice carried a hint of hurt as he added, “Since that’s the case, there’s nothing more to say between us. Goodbye.”
After Yu Jingchen left the restroom, Li Yunze stopped the recording on his phone in his pocket.
He stared hatefully in the direction Yu Jingchen had gone, his teeth clenched so tightly he almost crushed them.
