Yu Jingchen froze for a moment, and in Shen Mubai’s eyes, this was proof of the truth.

So she took a deep breath and said, “You don’t have to take responsibility for me.”

Shen Mubai was equally despairing, but she still had to pretend to be carefree.

He gave her a deep look.

When Yu Jingchen noticed the blush on her face, a bit of rationality returned to him.

“Sister Xiaoxing, are you okay?”

But she still put on a brave front.

“I’m a little hungry.”

Yu Jingchen looked at her and said softly, “I’m sorry for tiring you out.”

Shen Mubai’s face flushed crimson, and she couldn’t utter another word.

Yu Jingchen quickly got out of bed, dressed, and said with concern, “Sister Xiaoxing, rest a bit longer. I’ll make you breakfast.”

Shen Mubai nodded, but as soon as he entered the bathroom, she got up as fast as she could.

However, she had overestimated herself.

The soreness in her body caused her to fall back onto the bed.

Gritting her teeth, she stubbornly put on the scattered clothes piece by piece, and then, limping and guilt-ridden, she snuck out.

Thankfully, she had been here a few times before and knew the password to the front door; otherwise, she really wouldn’t have known what to do.

Xiaoguai was still ringing the doorbell, calling out, “Sister Xiaoxing, are you back?”

She had been so afraid Yu Jingchen had followed her.
