Chapter 154 : His God Still Exists in This World

At that moment, Heaven’s Will suddenly let out a chilling, owl-like laugh.

“Did you really think that besides the blood puppets, I had no other backup plans?”

“I am merely repaying debts—hatred with hatred, vengeance with vengeance.”

Heaven’s Will’s eerie voice echoed endlessly, its eyes flickering with a strange glow.

“Didn’t you once vow to protect all beings? Then I shall destroy them instead!”

As soon as the words fell, a rift tore open between the Heavenly and Mortal Realms.

With a mere flip of its palm, a few bewildered mortals appeared from the rift.

Heaven’s Will grabbed one at random.

Ignoring the person’s desperate struggles and pleas, it pressed its palm against their heart.

The person withered instantly, shrinking into a mummified husk.

Heaven’s Will tore open their chest, revealing a cloud of blood mist.

Lowering its head, it devoured the blood mist, flesh and all.

In an instant, the blood sea that had begun to dry up surged once more.

The sky, which had been on the verge of clearing, was instantly swallowed by dark clouds, turning into a thunderous purgatory.

“Buqi, we must stop him now!”

Jiang Niannian shouted anxiously.

“Alright.”

Yin Buqi responded, taking flight.

His crimson sword sliced through the sky, moving so fast it almost left an afterimage.

However, Heaven’s Will remained motionless, merely spreading its arms.

The vast blood sea raged at its command.

The sword was intercepted mid-air.

Even a massive creature like Coalball was completely restrained by the blood-formed bindings, unable to move an inch.

Heaven’s Will devoured humans at an accelerating pace, making the blood sea surge even more violently.

“Ah!”

Jiang Niannian cried out as a skeletal claw emerged from the sea, gripping her ankle.

Its rough texture clawed at her skin, dragging her downward.

Every corpse Heaven’s Will discarded into the blood sea did not remain lifeless for long—they soon transformed into vengeful spirits, seeking retribution.

In a flash, Yin Buqi’s fox tail materialized, wrapping around Jiang Niannian’s waist and pulling her to safety.

A murderous aura surged from him as he shattered the claw binding her leg.

“I’m sorry… Right now, I… I can’t do anything to help…”

Jiang Niannian realized the vast gap between her and Yin Buqi—just as in their past lives, when he had once been the weaker one.

In just the blink of an eye, the blood sea rose like walls.

Towering waves crashed toward them, the overwhelming stench of blood flooding their senses, as though it would drown them entirely.

Vengeful spirits lunged from behind.

Without thinking, Jiang Niannian threw her arms around Yin Buqi, shielding him.

But in an instant, Yin Buqi turned and took the attack upon himself.

Jiang Niannian’s heart sank.

His white robes were already soaked in dark red.

Whose blood was it?

“Hahahahaha—”

Heaven’s Will’s bone-chilling laughter reverberated.

“Excellent! Simply excellent! Let the blood waves rise and drag you all into the abyss!”

“Coalball, come here!”

Yin Buqi’s lips barely moved as he gave a cold command.

Hearing this, Coalball struggled to rush over.

Yin Buqi lifted Jiang Niannian onto its back.

“Buqi? What are you doing?!”

An ominous premonition gripped Jiang Niannian, and she panicked.

“The one I love is as radiant as the moon and wind, untouched by the dust of the world. She is someone I could never hope to reach. She is flawless… And yet, how fortunate I am, that she loves me too.”

As he spoke, Yin Buqi grasped her chin and kissed her.

Unlike any of their previous kisses, this one was devoid of lingering tenderness—only filled with boundless love and a fearless resolve.

When it ended, he conjured an underworld fire barrier around her, sealing her in.

“Coalball, take her away!”

“Awoooo!!”

“Take her away!”

Tears spilled from Jiang Niannian’s eyes as she pounded on the barrier.

“No! I don’t want to go! Don’t make me leave alone!”

Yin Buqi released his grip.

His silver hair billowed in the wind, his pale face marked by a blood-red scar at his brow.

The veins beneath his skin became more pronounced, glowing like magma coursing through the earth.

Then, in an instant, they ignited.

Countless fiery veins spread across his body, blazing like a star fire, as if they would consume him entirely.

“My wife is the most noble woman in this world.”

“Niannian, I once told you—many people, including Heaven’s Will, want me dead. But I don’t want to give my life to them. I only want to give it to you.”

Yin Buqi turned.

His eyes were void—his pupils gone, clouded by a layer of blood.

And yet, Jiang Niannian saw everything within them.

His madness, his obsession, his tenderness, his undivided love for her.

He said, “Niannian, I want you to remember forever—I love you. I die for love.”

Coalball carried Jiang Niannian away, galloping through the blood sea.

Jiang Niannian’s heartbeat pounded violently. She clenched her fists to suppress her trembling and gasped through ragged breaths.

“No, Yin Buqi! Don’t go! Come back—”

A deafening explosion erupted behind them.

A sky of golden light.

Blood rain poured down.

Everything was reduced to dust.

Jiang Niannian froze.

The world fell silent.

Sound disappeared.

The scene disappeared.

Even her heartbeat seemed to stop.

Only after a long time did she rasp out,

“Coalball, go back…”

Coalball kept running, for who knows how long, until everything from before was out of sight.

“I said, go back!”

Jiang Niannian went mad, striking the barrier with her spiritual energy.

The recoil lashed back at her, stabbing through her body like needles, reaching her bones, her soul.

Her soul…

Her soul!

She and Yin Buqi were bound by soul.

If she was still alive, then Yin Buqi must be alive too!

“Coalball! Go back! Buqi is still alive!”

Coalball hesitated for a moment but ultimately turned around and rushed back.

Jiang Niannian gritted her teeth, gathered even more spiritual energy, and struck the barrier.

The pain was maddening. But she bit down and forced herself through the opening in the shield.

“Boom!”

The red barrier shattered.

Coalball carried her back to the battlefield.

But there was nothing left.

Only a blood sea, littered with countless floating corpses.

Coalball wandered over the blood sea, searching.

“Yin Buqi—”*

“It’s me, Niannian. I’ve come back for you—”

“Come out—!”

She cried and called for what felt like an eternity.

So long that despair settled into her bones.

Then, a sigh echoed in her ears.

A figure crawled out of the blood river, barely clinging to life.

“My Niannian, why are you crying?”

Jiang Niannian froze.

Tears blurred her vision as she looked up at him.

“What, have you forgotten me already after so little time?”

Yin Buqi’s face was completely drained of color, but his crimson eyes glowed brilliantly.

He murmured, “I really want to hold you, but I’m too dirty right now.”

His eyes—he had reclaimed them.

The moment he finished speaking, Jiang Niannian let out a choked sob and threw herself into his arms, crying uncontrollably.

“Do you have any idea how desperate I was?! How could you leave me behind?! You bastard! I hate you! I hate you for leaving me!”

Yin Buqi held her tightly, letting her rage.

With the relief of surviving the storm, he whispered,

“It’s over now. We will never be apart again.”

He had endured the storm, his bones reforged.

He had cast aside the coldness of the world—leaving only himself, white bones weeping blood.

He was a demon.

And demons belonged in hell.

But he couldn’t leave—because in this world, he still had his god.
