Chapter 20-Part 2
“If they are willing to lend us the divine artifact, we might be able to extract the Huanyan bead from within Liushuang’s body.”
Madam Zi felt awkward at this, saying, “Activating a divine artifact requires an enormous amount of immortal energy. Shuang’er just offended the young master of Kunlun. Would Kunlun be willing to use the Shennong Cauldron for her?”
Chishui Chong glared at Liu Shuang and said, “Ask her what she’s going to do about it!”
Knowing she was in the wrong, Liushuang suggested, “How about… we just don’t take it out? My current goal is to become the strongest in the Eight Wilderness, not the most beautiful. At worst, I’ll just wear a veil when I go out.”
Madam Zi’s eyes filled with tears, overwhelmed with sorrow.
Seeing this, Liushuang quickly wiped her tears, saying, “Don’t cry, don’t cry, Mother. I’ll go ask for the favor; I’ll go apologize. I’ll admit my fault to the young master of Kunlun and beg him to forgive me, all right?”
Chishui Chong said, “You better not anger him again!”
“Liushuang wouldn’t dare.”
Chishui Chong continued, “You made this mistake, so find a way to resolve it yourself. The Jimo family is magnanimous. If you go in person to apologize, perhaps you can smooth things over. If you can’t borrow the Shennong Cauldron, then you’ll be stuck with that face forever as a lesson!”
Liu Shuang nodded.
Seeing her obedient and sincerely willing to admit her mistake, Chishui Chong sighed.
“Zhuixu, take Yuxiao along and accompany her. Don’t let her cause trouble. If Kunlun has any demands, Kong Sang will negotiate. We must ensure that the Huanyan bead is extracted from the young miss’s body.”
Bai Zhuixu quickly replied, “I will protect the young miss well.”
Chishui Chong still felt uneasy.
Though both young masters of the Bai family were skilled, the eldest was too submissive to Liushuang, while the second was too rebellious, often stirring up trouble for amusement.
Now, with the spiritual veins damaged and the other immortals unable to leave, if Liu Shuang went to Kunlun, where no one could restrain her, one misstep would mean the Huanyun might never be retrieved.
A thought crossed Chishui Chong’s mind, and he extended his spiritual consciousness to check the Nine Thought Pond.
“Who was the disciple who blocked the young miss at the Kong Sang entrance last time?”
Bai Zhuixu paused before answering, “In response, it was an outer disciple who guards the Immortal Mirror entrance, named Yan Chaosheng.”
Chishui Chong withdrew his gaze from the Nine Thought Pond and said, “Have him bring the Ten Commandments Ring and accompany her.”
Liushuang was completely taken aback by her father’s decision. “Realm… Father, could we choose someone else?”
Chishui Chong replied, “He’s going. Don’t worry; even if he holds the Ten Commandments Ring, he won’t dare harm you.”
Liushuang wanted to say more, but Madam Zi pulled her back. “Shuang’er, listen to me. Retrieve the Huanyun bead first, all right?”
Reluctantly, Liushuang muttered, “Alright.”
She thought to herself that perhaps this trip would be an opportunity to remove future threats to Kong Sang.
Yan Chaosheng returned to his residence in the bamboo forest, where the sky over Kong Sang had already turned dark.
He lived in an area filled with many small houses, all accommodations for lower-ranking outer disciples. Liushuang was of a vastly different status from him; if she didn’t fall for it, he could do nothing against her.
As he returned, his expression dark, someone noticed him and greeted him with a smile.
“Junior Brother Yan, you’re finally back! Today, a messenger from the Kong Sang realm came. You’d better go see; the realm lord has issued an order.”
Annoyed by his situation, Yan Chaosheng felt a surge of irritation.
An order from the realm lord?
Does the realm lord also want to vent his frustrations on his precious daughter’s behalf?
This worthless life of his seems to be on everyone’s mind.
He sneered. “What did the realm lord say?”
His senior brother shook his head.
“The messenger is waiting for you. Go find out yourself, Junior Brother Yan.”
When Yan Chaosheng reached his bamboo house, he saw an immortal waiting for him.
Suppressing his irritation, Yan Chaosheng put on a polite smile and greeted him.
The immortal gave him a measured glance and said, “The realm lord has bestowed the Ten Commandments Ring upon you. You are to accompany the young miss to the Kunlun Immortal Realm tomorrow to prevent any mishaps.”
“The Ten Commandments Ring?”
Seeing Yan Chaosheng’s respectful demeanor, the immortal explained, “It’s a magical tool that can restrict immortals of higher rank. You will understand once you accept it. The realm lord said that the young miss is still immature and has caused some trouble, but there will be a substantial reward awaiting you upon your return.”
Yan Chaosheng coldly sneered inwardly, keeping his expression neutral.
Word by word, he replied with a slight smile, “Rest assured, Immortal. I will make sure to take very good care of the young miss.”
The word “care” lingered on his lips, bitten out with extra weight.
