I don't need a prince! - Chapter 72
*Chapter 72 : Even Rosa Feels a Little Guilty
“I see. Then let’s observe her work a bit before making a decision.”
Rosa shrugged, exasperated, when a deep voice spoke from behind her.
“Milady, I have been hired as your knight protector.”
A deep male voice came from behind her.
When she turned around, Hugh stood there, looking exhausted.
“Oh, that’s right. I’m sorry for making you focus solely on the store’s security. I worry because most of the employees are women.”
However, Hugh continued to speak.
“I understand, but I am not a salesperson.”
Hugh was quite popular with the female customers, thanks to his good looks.
Plus, since he had been involved since the store’s opening, he was knowledgeable about the products.
Before he realized it, he had become both a guard and a salesperson.
With nearly 70% of the customers being women, it seemed their eyes were naturally drawn to the handsome guard.
Since Hugh had been helping out since the store’s opening, it was all the more natural.
“I’m sorry for burdening you so much. We’re short on staff, both in the store and at home. It’s been difficult.”
“What on earth happened to the staff at the mansion? They all said it was a pleasant place to work.”
Helena tilted her head, puzzled.
“Could they have been poached by someone offering better terms than us?”
“Huh? Is there really a place with better terms than the Croitzer family?”
“I have never heard of one.”
Both Helena and Hugh spoke in unison.
Rosa sensed a scheme at play.
(Who could have done this? I wonder what my father’s investigation has revealed.)
Though there were many things to be concerned about, for now, Rosa had to focus on dealing with the tasks in front of her.
Rosa immediately began checking the ledgers and worked on developing new products with Helena and Ann, seeking input from the other saleswomen as well.
Despite being busy, Rosa made sure not to let work consume her to the point where she lost sleep.
As someone promoting bath bombs, maintaining beautiful skin was crucial.
No matter how busy she was, Rosa made sure to get eight hours of sleep.
That alone quickly restored the firmness and glow of her youthful skin.
That morning, upon waking, Rosa was led to her vanity by Helena.
“Milady, let’s go with this dress today.”
“Oh, that’s not mine, is it?”
Rosa commented, looking at the pale green dress.
“It is yours, milady. It’s the one His Grace gave you the other day. Have you forgotten already?”
Helena sounded a bit disappointed.
Ethan was nothing if not meticulous.
As soon as they became engaged, he had been gifting her dresses and jewelry, always just the right amount, never too much or too little.
Everything he did was perfect.
“Helena, you’re right. Since I’m meeting with Lord Ethan, it’s only fitting that I wear something he gave me.”
Rosa quickly slipped into the dress. The color was beautiful, the design was great, and more importantly, it was light and easy to move in.
“Milady, it suits you very well.”
In Rosa’s room, there were three maids, including Helena, all complimenting her.
After that, everything flowed smoothly, with each of them efficiently preparing Rosa for her outing.
Earrings, hairpins, and a necklace—before long, she was perfectly dressed as a lady.
“We’re only going to the botanical garden. Isn’t this a bit too much?”
“Milady, you’ll be standing beside His Grace! You must dress to the nines!”
Helena was fired up with a sense of duty. Not wanting to bother with it, Rosa decided to leave everything to her.
“The botanical garden… I haven’t been there since I was a child.”
“Oh, really?”
“Yes. There are pretty flowers, but a lot of common herbs too. I bet Lord Ethan prefers the latter.”
There should be a herb garden as well.
It’s common, but if it could be incorporated into her business, that would be a different story. If she found anything that would be good for her bath bombs, she’d inquire about it.
“I see,” Helena nodded, seeming satisfied.
Just as everything was ready, a servant arrived to announce that Ethan had arrived.
Rosa did a final check in the mirror, descended the central staircase from her room on the second floor, and headed toward the entrance.
There, her father and mother were already chatting with Ethan, looking absolutely delighted.
Rosa felt a sharp pang in her chest.
(Father, Mother, I’m sorry! But I don’t want to be poisoned! I’ll do my best not to let the Croitzer family fall! I’m prepared, but still…)
Rosa had been steadily stockpiling gold bars.
She intended to move them to an island in the near future.
Of course, she couldn’t do it alone, and she fully intended to enlist Ethan’s help.
(He’ll definitely help me, right? But haven’t I become too indebted to Lord Ethan?)
A vague sense of unease began to settle in her mind.
