I'm the demise's white moonlight of the bigshot - Chapter 61-Part 2
Chapter 61-Part 2
Shen Yue’s face turned livid with anger, but the others behind him exchanged glances, barely able to hold back their laughter.
This girl wasn’t just good-looking; she had an amusing personality too.
She naturally had a way of infuriating people without facing any consequences.
Feeling utterly humiliated, Shen Yue seized the opportunity as the elevator arrived, stepping in without looking back.
Ji Ran glanced at the elevator, then turned to look at Shen Zhi.
Shen Zhi’s expression wasn’t pleasant—in fact, he seemed quite angry. He asked in a low voice, “I told you to leave earlier; why didn’t you?”
“He insulted you.”
Ji Ran mumbled softly, not loudly rebelling.
In Shen Zhi’s heart, it felt as though a swamp had emerged, bubbling with emotions that were both sour and indescribable.
He knew Ji Ran was trying to protect him.
Shen Zhi had endured others’ disdain from a young age, whether from elders or peers. He thought he didn’t care, especially since he could fight back and make them afraid to mess with him again.
It didn’t matter if no one protected him—he had always been his own guardian.
For the first time, someone was protecting him, not allowing anyone to bully or insult him.
This feeling of being cherished and protected was completely foreign.
But it was also very pleasant.
It felt really good.
Shen Zhi reached out and gently ruffled her hair.
His girl.
On the day grades were released, everyone went to school to get their report cards. Although they had enjoyed the past couple of days, the prospect of facing their grades made everyone a bit uneasy.
Ji Ran was unusually nervous.
She knew she had done well but wasn’t entirely confident she could surpass Shen Zhi.
For once, Ji Ran felt uneasy—she had never been so hesitant before.
Since there were no classes today, the homeroom teacher instructed them to come to school before nine. When Ji Ran arrived, the classroom was buzzing like an overboiling pot, almost ready to explode.
Shen Zhi had arrived before her this time.
He turned and looked at the girl who had just put her books down, suddenly asking, “Where will you spend the New Year?”
Ji Ran looked at him, blinking her eyes. Her long eyelashes fluttered up and down. She found his question surprising because yesterday Pei Yuan had called her, asking when her winter break started.
Pei Yuan suggested she return to Jiangdu as soon as possible for the break.
Her grandparents were particularly eager to see her.
Ji Ran had held her phone in silence. Since Pei Yuan and Ji Qingli had divorced, Ji Ran had moved to B City with her father and hadn’t returned to Jiangdu.
She had talked to her grandparents on the phone before. They had affectionately scolded her for being a little ingrate who didn’t come home to see them.
Ji Ran knew she would definitely go back for the New Year.
This meant she would be separated from Shen Zhi.
Suddenly, she felt a bit reluctant.
Ji Ran’s face didn’t show much expression—she didn’t want Shen Zhi to feel too smug, thinking she couldn’t bear to be apart from him. She just said softly, “I’m going back to my hometown for the New Year.”
“You don’t know where my hometown is, do you?” Ji Ran suddenly remembered this.
Shen Zhi looked at her quietly.
Ji Ran said softly, “It’s in Jiangdu, a very beautiful place. If you have time, you can come and visit.”
“Are you inviting me now?” Shen Zhi suddenly leaned closer, his dark eyes staring intently at her as he lowered his voice to ask. It wasn’t entirely his fault—the surrounding noise was quite loud.
Ji Ran, worried that others might notice how close they were, couldn’t help but pull away a bit.
Feigning ignorance, Ji Ran said, “Inviting you to what?”
Shen Zhi said directly, “To go home with you.”
He was always straightforward, and knowing that Ji Ran liked to play dumb, he decided not to beat around the bush.
Ji Ran quickly turned to look at him, lowering her voice, “Classmate Shen Zhi, please be clear—we are still just classmates, okay?”
Even if they were to become a couple in the future, that was still in the future.
Just as she finished speaking, she felt a hand gently squeeze the one she had by her side.
“Just classmates?” Shen Zhi said, staring into her eyes, his fingers squeezing her palm in a slightly ambiguous manner.
Ji Ran quickly glanced around to make sure no one was watching.
She whispered, “Let go of my hand.”
“Still just classmates?” Shen Zhi asked deliberately, looking into her eyes.
“Shen Zhi,” Ji Ran called out urgently.
But as soon as she did, Shen Zhi said softly, “Ran Ran, don’t move, okay?”
His tone softened, and Ji Ran felt a bit unwilling to struggle. She stayed still, while the classroom remained noisy with students chatting with their neighbors, creating a bustling atmosphere.
Ji Ran suddenly removed the scarf from around her neck and placed it on her lap, letting the extra length cover her and Shen Zhi’s intertwined hands.
Shen Zhi’s hands were large, dry, and warm, gently wrapping around hers.
Just as the scarf covered their hands, his fingers intertwined with hers, slowly fitting between her fingers until their hands were fully clasped.
No gaps remained.
Ji Ran pretended to look down at her desk, but all her attention was on the sensation in her hand.
His hand was really warm.
Around ten o’clock, Mr. Qiao arrived, carrying many test papers.
“Come on, help pass out the test papers,” Mr. Qiao said, pointing to the students in the front row. They quickly got up to help distribute the papers.
Mr. Qiao looked at the students, beaming.
“Class, we’ve finally shaken off the title of last place. And we have two students who did exceptionally well.”
“The top scorer in the entire city is in our class.”
Immediately, all the students turned to look at the two sitting in the first row.
Ji Ran, feeling guilty about what she was doing, grew even more nervous under their collective gaze and wanted to pull her hand away.
However, the boy beside her not only didn’t let go but held her hand even tighter.
Ji Ran’s nervousness was also partly due to the top scorer announcement.
So, who was it?
Fortunately, Mr. Qiao didn’t keep them in suspense for long. Smiling, he announced, “Let’s congratulate Shen Zhi for scoring 716 points, making him the top scorer in the city.”
At this point, Ji Ran couldn’t hold back any longer and forcefully pulled her hand away.
Even as Mr. Qiao continued, “And let’s also congratulate Ji Ran for scoring 715 points, placing her second in the city. However, a student from another school also scored 715, so Ji Ran shares the second place.”
Shen Zhi glanced at the girl beside him, suddenly feeling that he might lose contact with his future girlfriend over this winter break.
He sighed.
Why did you have to score so high?
With a sigh, Shen Zhi took out his phone and sent a text message.
A moment later, Ji Ran’s phone vibrated.
She glanced down.
[Wife, I was wrong.]
The term “wife” made Ji Ran blush, but the content of the message puzzled her.
She turned to him and asked, “What did you do wrong?”
Shen Zhi had previously heard from Xia Jiangming and others that sometimes girls were unreasonable, so you had to apologize sincerely, whether you were wrong or not.
So he lowered his gaze and said softly, “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have taken first place from you.”
If Ji Ran wasn’t fuming before, now she felt a rush of blood from her toes to her head in an overwhelming surge of emotion.
She felt utterly humiliated!!!!
