Chapter 23:To the Royal Capital
As Martha had said, the journey to the royal capital was swift.
They went to Noah’s research building, held hands, and boarded a teleportation device created by a magic circle. Noah instructed Fiene to close her eyes because it might make her dizzy, and after a while, she noticed that the surrounding air had changed.
“You can open your eyes now.”
Their hands separated, and Fiene opened her eyes. They were in a room resembling a white box.
Crystal orbs were placed at five points surrounding the magic circle, and Fiene and Noah stood in the center.
“Noah-sama, where is this?”
Fiene looked around. Just a moment ago, they were in a sturdy stone research building, but this place was completely different.
“It’s a room in the manor in the royal capital.”
“Eh?”
Led by Noah, she left the white room with skepticism, and there was a long corridor with a carpet laid out.
In front of them stood a man dressed in a butler’s uniform.
“Welcome back, Noah-sama.”
“I’m home. Fiene, this is Fernan. He’s Lloyd’s brother and the butler of this manor. If you have any business, you can tell him.”
Noah introduced Fiene. Fiene returned the greeting, but her mind was elsewhere.
Arriving in the royal capital in an instant was something Fiene had neither seen nor heard of. She was half in disbelief.
Fiene was taken to a luxurious salon with a crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
She looked at the outside scenery through the large projecting window.
The royal palace and the cathedral were visible nearby. There was no mistake; this was undoubtedly the royal capital.
“Noah-sama, this is amazing!”
Surprised, Fiene turned around to face Noah. The realization slowly sank in that they had indeed arrived in the royal capital.
“It’s a groundbreaking invention, but it’s not practical yet.”
“Eh?”
Fiene tilted her head in confusion.
“To use that magic circle, an enormous amount of magical power is needed. The number of people who can use it is limited.”
Saying so, Noah took out two potions—one for Fiene and another for himself.
“Um, was it a burden for you that I came along too?”
“It’s not a problem for just one person like you.”
While the two were talking, Fernan prepared tea. Hot scones were placed in front of them, accompanied by clotted cream and strawberry jam. Fiene picked up her favorite scone.
“After taking a break with tea, let’s go buy Fiene’s clothes right away,” Noah suggested while sipping tea.
“Huh?”
“We’re planning to stay in the royal capital for about a week from now. It would be inconvenient with just one formal outfit. After all, you’re an important experimental subject. I’ll buy you anything you like, clothes or accessories.”
Fiene widened her eyes at Noah’s words.
For some reason, Noah seemed determined to fulfill even the wishes Fiene hadn’t expressed.
“Um, Noah-sama, I just want to go to a bookstore and a cafĂ©. And maybe to the botanical garden. It’s really too indulgent…”
Fiene voiced only her desires.
“Don’t worry; I’ll teach you some luxury before you die soon. Learn to enjoy dressing up. Indulge yourself as much as you like,” Noah declared firmly, leaving Fiene dumbfounded.
(Though a bit rude in speech, he’s an unbelievably good person. Why are such terrible rumors circulating about him? If anything, he’s almost too kind; it worries me.)
Fiene wasn’t used to being pampered, and it made her heart race.
At first, she had requests like wanting to eat apple pie, but as Noah kept escalating and questioning if that was enough for her, Fiene became afraid to voice her desires.
“Um, Noah-sama, have you ever been deceived by someone before?”
Seeing Fiene tilt her head anxiously, Noah smiled confidently.
