Chapter 220:The Male Lead Raises a Cat (36)

Shen Mubai nestled in Jiang Yiran’s arms, silently complaining. Upon hearing the other person’s response, she didn’t feel surprised at all. She even showed a watching-the-show expression as she looked at Xu Qinglu, thinking, “Go ahead, act it out. The male lead is soft-hearted; consider it my loss.”

Sure enough, Jiang Yiran maintained his indifferent gaze and tone, saying, “Because my cat doesn’t like you.”

Xu Qinglu’s face became even more embarrassed. It was more uncomfortable than if the other had directly expressed dislike for her. It was like indirect proof that, in the eyes of the other, she was nothing.

Meanwhile, Shen Mubai widened her eyes slightly in surprise. She wondered how her cat litter officer, the one in charge of cleaning the litter, knew she didn’t like this white lotus. After all, she had resisted, but she hadn’t shown it too explicitly.

After uttering these words, Jiang Yiran turned and walked away. Xu Qinglu, left behind, couldn’t help but harbor some resentment and jealousy towards the cat.

Throughout the journey, although Jiang Yiran held her, he showed no intention of engaging with her. While Shen Mubai felt anxious, she tentatively rubbed against his arm, staring at him with wet eyes and emitting a soft and submissive meow.

Jiang Yiran never lowered his head to look at her, continuing to walk quietly. A faint chill seemed to have touched his fair skin.

Shen Mubai now understood that things had escalated. Despite licking and rubbing and trying to ease the male lead’s anger, he still ignored her.

Feeling a bit wronged, Shen Mubai acknowledged her mistake and could only continue to act cute, seeking forgiveness.

The restless cat in his arms moved around, and its tender pink tongue kept licking his own skin. Its moist emerald eyes were full of cautious and pleasing expressions, mixed with subtle grievances.

Jiang Yiran felt a strange softening in his chest, an unfamiliar emotion spreading through his limbs and body. However, he maintained his expressionless face, lowered his eyes slightly, and asked in a tone that revealed no emotion, “Do you know you were wrong?”

Shen Mubai’s eyes brightened slightly, and she nodded hurriedly.

Jiang Yiran stared at her for a moment and continued, “Do you know where you went wrong?”

Shen Mubai obediently nodded like a chick pecking at grains, looking at the cat litter officer in front of her with sparkling eyes. “I understand. I understand. I promise not to run around in the future.”

Perhaps the cat’s series of actions had pleased Jiang Yiran. His cold expression softened slightly, and a hint of tenderness appeared in his deep, expressionless eyes. “You’re not allowed to run away in the future.”

The young man’s voice remained cold, but it carried a touch of intimacy.

Shen Mubai stared at him with wide eyes and nodded.

Jiang Yiran continued, “You’re not allowed to get close to anyone, and no one is allowed to approach you.”

Shen Mubai, “Meow meow meow?”

Jiang Yiran glanced at her indifferently. “Hmm?”

Shen Mubai weakly nodded, struggling to convey her sincere feelings to the cat litter officer.

Jiang Yiran added, “You’re not allowed to eat anything given by anyone other than me.”

Shen Mubai widened her eyes. “Meow meow meow?”

Jiang Yiran asked, “Don’t you want to?”

Shen Mubai meowed pitifully, and even the tip of her tail drooped.

Jiang Yiran, with a scrutinizing gaze, looked at her and said, “Or is there something I don’t know?”

Shen Mubai’s chrysanthemum tightened at his words. She quickly shook her head, denying it, and meowed to express her wholehearted sincerity to the cat litter officer.

(T/N: chrysanthemum means anus.)

Jiang Yiran was finally satisfied. A barely noticeable upward curve appeared on his lips and then disappeared in an instant.
