Shen Mubai looked at the cat owner, who had transformed into a motherly figure, nodding in understanding.

“I got it.”

Jiang Yiran quietly stared at her for a moment, then said calmly, “As long as I find that any of the above hasn’t been done…”

Shen Mubai hurriedly interjected, “I promise!”

Jiang Yiran ruffled her hair before leaving.

Shen Mubai breathed a sigh of relief and lazily lounged on the sofa, turning on the TV.

As she watched, she habitually reached for an apple on the table. Just as she was about to take a bite, she suddenly remembered the cat owner’s instructions before leaving and hesitated.

It was during the commercial break, and she stared at the big, red, and juicy apple in her hand for a while, but eventually placed it back where it was.

After watching a bit more TV, Shen Mubai, who usually snacks while watching, felt something off. Finally, she stared at the apple and thought, “I shouldn’t binge eat. Half should be fine.”

So, she took a bite out of the large, red apple. Soon, feeling drowsy, she couldn’t resist curling up on the sofa and falling asleep.

When Jiang Yiran entered the living room and saw the girl curled up asleep on the sofa, he walked over, picked up the remote control, and turned off the TV.

As his gaze fell on the half-eaten apple, a hint of amusement appeared in his eyes, and his lips curved slightly.

Unaware of her surroundings, the girl on the sofa turned slightly, revealing her furry head and breathing evenly.

On her fair and slender neck was a palm-sized face with long, curly eyelashes resting peacefully, leaving a beautiful shadow in her eyes.

Perhaps due to her uncomfortable sleeping position, faint pink marks were left on the girl’s delicate face, making her look confused yet innocent.

Jiang Yiran quietly watched for a while before leaning down to lightly pinch the girl’s cheek.

Shen Mubai remained deeply asleep, oblivious to everything.

Jiang Yiran didn’t disturb her but went to pour himself a glass of water and grabbed a book, sitting beside her quietly.

It was over ten minutes later when Shen Mubai woke up, groggily opening her eyes. She saw that the sunlight outside the French window had already taken on a yellowish hue, and only then did she realize what had happened.

Quickly sitting up, she couldn’t help but yawn, thinking the caretaker should have returned by now. Just then, she heard a chilly voice beside her say, “Awake.”

Startled, Shen Mubai quickly looked to her side, her black and white cat-like eyes widening.

Jiang Yiran’s slender, fair fingers happened to turn a page, his eyes half-lidded as he said calmly, “Hungry?”

As soon as he mentioned it, Shen Mubai remembered the half-eaten apple from earlier today. She couldn’t help but glance at the table, but found nothing there.

Jiang Yiran raised an eyebrow, his gaze falling lightly on the girl. “Looking for something?”

Shen Mubai wouldn’t confess to her mischief voluntarily. Feeling guilty, she rubbed her stomach and changed the subject. “Um, a little hungry.”

Putting down the book, Jiang Yiran said, “Go take a shower first,” before heading towards the kitchen.
