Chapter 260: The Sect Leader Wakes Up Grumpy Every Day (8)

Shen Mubai, with a troubled expression on her face, approached quietly and tapped the person’s back.

The woman paused, then stayed still.

Shen Mubai felt puzzled, so she pulled her over and was startled by the person’s pale face and rolling eyes.

The woman, upon seeing it, was Shen Mubai. She breathed heavily, as if a drowning person had been saved. “You scared me; I thought you were a ghost.” But then she remembered something and looked at Shen Mubai warily, trembling. “What do you want to do to me?”

Shen Mubai replied, “…I want to drink water.”

The woman gave her a look as if she were a lunatic.

Seeing her misunderstanding, Shen Mubai hurriedly explained, “I want to drink water; you’ve been messing around here, and it’s inconvenient for me to get up.”

The woman breathed a sigh of relief and casually revealed what she was messing with: “Digging a hole.”

She didn’t seem worried that Shen Mubai would expose this matter and continued digging with what she had in her hands.

Shen Mubai glanced at the hole in the dim light of the oil lamp, silent.

The woman, seeing her silence, whispered as she dug, “Do you want to dig with me?”

Shen Mubai asked softly, “How long do we have to dig before we can escape?”

The woman thought for a moment: “Probably ten or twenty years.” She chuckled and continued to dig with enthusiasm.

Shen Mubai finally understood that it wasn’t that the others were sound asleep, but rather that they just couldn’t be bothered by her.

She yawned slowly, about to fetch water to drink, when her gaze inadvertently met an empty spot. She hesitantly tapped the woman’s shoulder.

The woman turned back unhappily and said, “If you want to dig, do it quickly.”

Shen Mubai hesitated, then said, “Where’s Liu Chunhua?”

The woman glanced around and asked, “Where…?” She was taken aback, stammering, “Where… where’s that person surnamed Liu?”

The dim flickering of the fire added a touch of eerie atmosphere to the dungeon.

Faint, muffled sounds of something falling to the ground continued, then quickly disappeared. It was something only those with enough alertness and concentration would notice.

The clang of a lock being broken sounded, and the cell on the diagonal was quickly opened. Several men in different attire barged in, but instead of acting, they respectfully called out to the man whose limbs were bound with chains as thick as a child’s arm, “Leader!”

The man, who had been hanging his head low, slowly raised it, revealing an extraordinarily handsome face with sharp brows and starry eyes. However, his facial features were too sharp, overshadowing his appearance, and what caught one’s attention at first sight was the unfathomable aura surrounding him.

He moved his limbs slightly, and the iron chains on his body snapped simultaneously. Jun Juling asked, “Did you get what you needed?”

The men nodded in unison and said, “Yes, Leader, we’ve got it.”

Jun Juling smirked with a disdainful sneer, “Then let’s go.”

Suddenly, a sharp scream pierced the air, and the dungeon fell into a momentary silence, waking everyone in their cells.

Shen Mubai was the first to be startled because the woman beside her, who had been digging, was the one screaming. She clung to Shen Mubai’s thigh in terror, trembling, “Someone’s raiding the prison! The leader of that demonic sect is going to kill us!”

Shen Mubai sighed inwardly, thinking, “They wouldn’t have noticed you if you hadn’t rushed into trouble.”
