Chapter 261: The Sect Leader Wakes Up Grumpy Every Day (9)

At once, there was a considerable commotion in every cell, yet no guards came forth.

Clearly, they knew it was a chance to escape. Most of them didn’t know who the rescuer was or what their identity was; they just kept wailing, clutching the bars tightly, reaching out their hands, and shouting, “Save us! Hero! We’re all innocent!”

“Let us out, wuwuwu.”

Amidst the numerous gazes, a burly and fierce-looking man approached one of the cells effortlessly, unlocking it.

“Cuihua, Cuihua,” a woman, embracing Shen Mubai, was on the verge of tears, evidently terrified.

The other women who had woken up earlier had already huddled together in a corner, screaming, “Don’t kill me, don’t kill me.”

Shen Mubai couldn’t help but curl her lips. Despite these women appearing tough on the surface, she merely pinched a cockroach and played some trick, and they were terrified.

Though he was Jun Jiuling’s subordinate, she eyed the unfamiliar man warily.

Unexpectedly, with a frown, he strode over and easily shook off the woman clinging to her thigh, then hoisted her onto his shoulder.

Shen Mubai, “??!”

Finally stopping in front of Jun Jiuling, the man, in a rough voice, said, “Leader, I suspect this woman harbors ill intentions towards you.”

Shen Mubai, “…..”

Jun Jiuling lifted an eyelid, casting an indifferent glance at her. “Kill her.”

Shen Mubai was nearly witless and scared.

However, the man suggested, “Leader, perhaps we should keep her for a while and investigate the forces behind her? If she’s insignificant, we can always kill her later.”

Jun Jiuling nodded.

Shen Mubai breathed a sigh of relief inwardly. Though she was misunderstood, at least she would live a little longer. During this time, she had to find a way to gain Jun Jiuling’s trust.

The group moved as if this wasn’t a heavily guarded government dungeon but their own backyard.

Even carrying Shen Mubai, their movements were unhindered. They effortlessly bypassed all mechanisms, saw no one lurking in the shadows, and ultimately escaped without any hindrance.

Shen Mubai was thrown onto a carriage, accompanied by the rough man who carried her.

She accidentally hit her bone, yelping in pain, to which the man sitting opposite her grumbled harshly, “Be obedient.”

Shen Mubai felt his voice was somewhat familiar, so she looked carefully.

The man had an extremely fierce face, weathered bronze skin, rugged facial features, and a burly body that could scare children into tears.

Seeing Shen Mubai staring, he glared fiercely. “What are you looking at?”

Shen Mubai said, “Big brother, you seem familiar to me.”

The man paused, then continued, “Don’t try to get close to me. Tell me, who sent you?”

Shen Mubai thought I was sent by the system to save your leader.

But she said meekly, “I’m just a thief.”

The man sneered, “If you don’t talk, we have ways to make you talk.”

With that, he produced two black cloths from somewhere, bound Shen Mubai’s hands, and blindfolded her, all done with less gentleness than necessary.
