Chapter 38: Noah’s Decision 1

Noah confirmed Fiene’s condition and gave her a modified potion tailored to her constitution.

He could feel her life force diminishing day by day.

Noah intended to devote the remaining time to his research.

“Fiene doesn’t want to prolong her life.”

Alone in the cafeteria, Noah casually mentioned it to Lloyd. Fiene had recently stopped eating anything solid and no longer got out of bed.

Lloyd, who also liked Fiene, seemed lonely.

“It’s unfortunate that she’s not around. I want her to live.”

“Yeah, I don’t want Fiene to go. That’s why I’m not prolonging her life; I intend to cure her illness.”

“Is that possible?”

Lloyd blinked.

“The late stage of magic depletion syndrome is when the internal organs are damaged and become worn out from prolonged use of magic. So, if the worn-out organs are repaired, it should be fine. That’s why I’m making the Elixir to help Fiene.”

The Elixir is known as a mythical medicine.

It used to exist, but its formula has now been lost.

“The Elixir… If it’s you, Noah-sama, I believe it’s possible,” Lloyd said firmly.

“From today, I’ll be secluded in the research building. It might make Fiene lonely, but I’m counting on you. And please keep me informed of Fiene’s condition.”

“Understood.”

While keeping an eye on Fiene’s condition, Noah immersed himself in research.

Thanks to his efforts, the Elixir was almost complete.

There was no time to spare for Fiene’s illness. Noah used the magic circle in the research building to teleport to the royal capital’s research institute to obtain data and rare materials.

However, when he entered his research laboratory in the magic tower, he was shocked.

The laboratory was ransacked, valuable data was stolen, and destroyed.

“There’s no time until Fiene’s life runs out!”

Noah pounded his desk with frustration and anger.

More than frustration, there was a sense of urgency.

Desperately searching for any remaining data, Noah wondered if it had been overlooked somewhere. Then Edmund, who had heard reports from the magic tower security, hurriedly arrived.

“Noah, things have taken a serious turn. It’s unforgivable that extensive research materials were destroyed and stolen,” Edmund said, trembling with anger.

“They even tampered with the data. However, the rare materials were safe. Only the data is missing. I will return to my domain and resume my research,” Noah declared firmly.

Edmund widened his eyes in shock at Noah’s resolute statement.

“What are you saying? Your precious research laboratory has been ransacked, and your achievements may have been stolen! If you were serious, you should search for the culprit. You should be able to find them.” Edmund implored Noah to stay, but Noah shook his head.

“There’s no time. There’s someone I absolutely must save. I don’t want a future where she doesn’t exist,” Noah declared as he stormed out of the laboratory.

“Noah! It’s highly likely that Jurgen Norm is the culprit. What will you do if he announces your research findings before you?” Edmund desperately called out.

“If he can do it, then go ahead. But it’s impossible for him. If anything happens that leads to Fiene’s death, I’ll kill him.” Noah replied determinedly.

Noah shrugged off his friend’s attempts to stop him, cloaked himself in wind magic, and dashed out.

Hurrying to his mansion, Noah gulped down a potion, chanted a spell, and suddenly disappeared beyond the magic circle.

A few weeks later, Jurgen Norm announced his research on the Elixir.

The capital city buzzed with excitement. It seemed certain that he would be granted the title Earl of Magic.

“If only Noah would return, he could definitely crush him.” Edmund gritted his teeth as he heard the news in the palace office. What Jurgen had announced was something that Noah, his friend, had developed through blood, sweat, and tears. It was unacceptable for it to be snatched away like this.

However, there was no solid evidence that Jurgen had stolen it.
