Chapter 47-Part 1
Tang Xin lightly tapped the table with her index finger, appearing to be in deep thought.
From the bottom of her heart, she didn’t want anyone to surpass Yan Hao, nor did she want anyone to be on par with him at the SS level.
The world only needed one SS-level person: Yan Hao.
The question was, how could she tactfully yet ruthlessly refuse Yun Tian?
“What’s wrong?” Yun Tian asked, puzzled.
When she first treated him, Tang Xin had been very confident.
Why was she hesitating now?
Tang Xin hesitated for a moment, then pretended to stammer.
“I’ve personally seen some people take the medication. It usually wasn’t a big deal, but once, an S-level gene person took the Gene Purification Agent and died right in front of me.”
Yun Tian’s hair stood on end, and he forced a laugh.
“Miss Tang, please don’t joke with me.”
Tang Xin pouted in dissatisfaction.
How was this a joke? She was having a serious conversation.
“Why would I lie to you? If I weren’t afraid that you’d drop dead after taking the agent and others would think I intentionally harmed you, I’d actually be curious to let you try it.”
She sighed.
“Ever since the news about that S-level person dying spread, no other S-level individuals have dared to take the Gene Purification Agent. They all say it’s fine to maintain the status quo and don’t want to advance further. So far, several people of other gene levels have taken the agent and had no issues, but for S-levels, I can’t guarantee anything.”
“With only one sample, I can’t determine if it was a personal health issue or an S-level problem. If you’re willing to be a test subject and provide data, I’ll give you a bottle of the agent for free!”
Yun Tian forced a smile.
He had finally hoped to recover and become a healthy person, and he valued his life greatly.
He had struggled to survive; he wasn’t about to risk it by taking the agent as an experiment!
Meanwhile, Tang Xin enthusiastically urged, “Just try it; it’s free. If you survive and become SS-level, you’d be the first in the galaxy!”
Butler Su’s face darkened, wanting to retort. What if he died? Would she take responsibility?
Yun Tian regretfully said, “It seems I can’t take it.”
“Come on, why not muster up the courage and try? If you succeed, you’ll be the first SS-level person! I’ve never heard of anyone reaching SS-level.”
Though the only SS-level person stood behind Tang Xin, she lied naturally, looking at Yun Tian with starry eyes full of expectation.
Yun Tian pretended not to see, quickly stood up, and calmly excused himself. “I’ve been out for a while, and I’m a bit tired. I’ll return to my room. I’ll visit Miss Tang another day.”
The master and servant left quickly, almost as if fleeing.
Once the room was empty except for the two of them, Tang Xin proudly looked at Yan Hao and said, “Impressive, right? I scared Yun Tian off easily. I bet he won’t think about taking the Gene Purification Agent again.”
She looked like she was seeking praise and a pat on the head.
Yan Hao glanced at his master and said reservedly, “Not bad.”
“Not bad? Do you know how hard it was to dissuade him? I couldn’t say we didn’t have the materials, because if I mentioned something rare and he actually found it, that would be trouble. I couldn’t refuse directly either. I just didn’t want to give it to him, but I had to make him back off himself. Luckily, I knew he was afraid of dying, so I exaggerated the risks. He definitely wouldn’t dare to try.”
People who have suffered long illnesses cherish their hard-earned health.
Yun Tian finally had a chance to continue living; he wouldn’t risk it carelessly.
Yan Hao’s eyes sparkled with amusement, feeling warm inside.
His master pretended not to care about him, but she was clearly fond of him. She only wanted him to be the sole SS-level person and wouldn’t let anyone else reach his level.
“Did someone really die after taking the agent?” Yan Hao asked curiously, doubting his master’s claim.
“It’s true,” Tang Xin said confidently.
The S-level child she mentioned had poor health, only slightly better than Yun Tian when she first met him. The child’s family ignored her advice to properly treat the illness, believing that improving the genetic level would help control the internal star power and prevent illness. The preconditions for the child’s death were not crucial, so she didn’t mention them.
In reality, the child died due to an untreated illness, not because of the agent.
From Yan Hao’s experience, advancing from S to SS level only required one or two bottles of the agent.
For a healthy person, taking the agent wouldn’t have negative effects, even if it didn’t work.
But she didn’t want to take the risk, so she deliberately misled Yun Tian, making him believe that all S-levels faced significant risks with the Gene Purification Agent.
Tang Xin thought she only left out part of the truth; it wasn’t lying.
Yes, exactly!
Then, she looked expectantly at Yan Hao and said, “See, I’m so good to you. Don’t you have any thoughts?”
Yan Hao snorted softly, slightly dissatisfied.
Any thoughts? He’d already been rejected when he took the initiative, so how could he dare have any more thoughts!
Tang Xin coaxed, “Don’t you want to stay with me in the future?”
Because of her, he became SS-level! Besides, she was clever and reliable.
Yan Hao wasn’t tempted, not even considering how to stay with her long-term, which was quite unambitious.
Yan Hao had long seen through his master’s intentions.
Roundabout flirting—wasn’t it just to be together all the time?
He replied reservedly, “Just a little bit.”
Only a little, not eager at all!
Tang Xin was delighted; a little was a good start.
She mustered the courage to recommend herself: “I promised to free you in three years and won’t break my word. But since you don’t want to be my guard, would you hire me as your personal pharmacist?”
Yan Hao was secretly pleased and thrilled inside, but he responded nonchalantly, “Depends on your performance; I’ll think about it.”
