Chapter 330: Childhood Friends Must Be Cultivated from a Young Age (13)
Shen Mubai herself was puzzled, “I don’t know.”
The chubby girl snorted, “It’s better this way, so he won’t keep bothering you.”
No one paid much attention to this incident.
In fifth grade, An Ziyu’s personality hadn’t changed much. He still liked to stick to Shen Mubai, didn’t like interacting with other classmates, and didn’t seem to have any particular interests.
Shen Mubai was troubled by this for a while. Every time she tried to encourage him to play with other kids, An Ziyu would sulk.
“Ziyu, why are you unhappy again?” She squatted down to look at the little boy sitting there.
A year had passed, and An Ziyu had grown a bit taller, but Shen Mubai had also grown, so their height difference hadn’t decreased.
This made An Ziyu very frustrated. One night, he drank several bottles of milk, only to wake up in the middle of the night needing to use the bathroom.
When Zhou Ruoyun found out, she scolded him, both amused and annoyed, “No matter how much milk you drink, you won’t grow tall overnight.”
An Ziyu felt anxious, especially now as he looked at the squatting Luoluo and thought about his height.
He was very sad, wondering when he would be able to carry Luoluo on his back.
Seeing him unhappy, Shen Mubai comforted him, “Ziyu, everyone grows up. You need to make more friends so you won’t feel lonely in the future.”
An Ziyu stared at her in a daze and asked, “Is Luoluo afraid of being lonely?”
Shen Mubai said, “Yes, everyone is afraid of being lonely.”
An Ziyu looked at her, pursed his lips, and said seriously, “Luoluo, don’t be afraid. I will always be with you.”
Shen Mubai laughed, “But we will still be separated.”
“No!” His childlike voice suddenly rose in pitch.
She was slightly startled.
An Ziyu pressed his lips into a line, stubbornly saying, “I don’t want to be separated from Luoluo!”
His eyes were full of stubbornness, with a hint of tearful grievance.
Shen Mubai quickly comforted him, “Okay, okay, we won’t be separated.”
She sighed inwardly and said to the system, “The little protagonist seems to be getting more and more clingy.”
The system coldly replied, “So what have you been doing all these years?”
Shen Mubai thought for a moment and realized she had been spending her time eating, drinking, and having fun, feeling a bit guilty. “Isn’t there still a lot of time left?”
The system sneered, “It seems like you’re really enjoying being a child.”
Shen Mubai inexplicably shivered, fearing the system might cause trouble in the next world. She quickly promised to start working hard on her tasks.
An Ziyu, reassured by her words, sniffled, held back his tears, and extended his pinky finger, saying softly, “Pinky swear.”
Shen Mubai couldn’t stand seeing him cry, “Okay, let’s pinky swear.”
After they made their pinky promise, An Ziyu looked up at her and said softly, “I don’t like you playing with them.”
Shen Mubai laughed and patted his head, “Why not?”
An Ziyu said, “I just don’t like it.”
He even hated it.
But he decided not to say the latter part because he didn’t want Luoluo to think he was childish.
Shen Mubai thought it was just a child’s possessiveness and smiled, “Ziyu, if you make many friends, you won’t feel this way.”
An Ziyu pursed his lips and looked at her, “Having Luoluo is enough for me.”
Children can be very stubborn about their feelings. Shen Mubai knew it wouldn’t be easy to change his mind immediately, and it might even backfire. She decided to help him change gradually.
