Chapter  61-Part 1

Chapter Sixty-One

“You motherfu*ker, are you looking for death?” Shen Yue was furious, being treated like this in public. No matter how lewd his thoughts were about Ji Ran, he was now utterly enraged.

Just as he raised his hand, Shen Zhi moved.

Shen Zhi stood in front of Shen Yue, his dark eyes as cold as ice, and said indifferently, “Shen Yue, get lost before I decide to make a move.”

Shen Yue gritted his teeth, glaring at him. If there was anyone Shen Yue hated the most, it was none other than Shen Zhi.

In the Shen family, Shen Yue was the eldest grandson of the main branch. His father was the eldest son of the patriarch, and he himself was the eldest grandson. Since childhood, he has been pampered, naturally developing a sense of entitlement.

When children are young, such behavior is sometimes seen as cute by elders.

But Shen Yue didn’t live up to expectations. From the start of his school days, he was always causing trouble, bullying others with the family’s wealth, and his academic performance was abysmal.

This wouldn’t have been such a big deal, as children from their kind of family could still get into prestigious universities, even top international schools, through various means.

The problem was that there was a comparison.

His two cousins from the second uncle’s family were mediocre, so Shen Yue wasn’t worried. But then his childless third uncle brought back an illegitimate son from outside.

Shen Yue overheard his mother complaining to his father, saying that the third uncle did this to grab the patriarch’s inheritance.

Shen Yue always thought that, as the eldest grandson of the main branch, he should inherit the Shen family’s business. His father would succeed his grandfather as the chairman, and he would succeed his father.

That was how things were supposed to be.

Why should the third uncle compete with his father, and why bring in an illegitimate child to compete too?

From the beginning, Shen Yue disliked this newly appearing illegitimate son, even conspiring with his cousins to ostracize Shen Zhi. Whenever they dined at the Shen family mansion, no one wanted to play with Shen Zhi.

But to their surprise, Shen Zhi turned out to be a genius.

In school, Shen Zhi always ranked first in exams, far ahead of second place, and winning math competitions was a routine for him.

Even though Shen Yue was a few years older, he was always dragged into comparisons.

It’s often said that comparisons are odious. Shen Yue and his parents were the ones who felt this deeply. They used to be somewhat on par with others, but now Shen Zhi makes them look insignificant.

He couldn’t even put on a big brother act in front of Shen Zhi anymore.

Moreover, since Shen Zhi returned to the Shen family, the patriarch has been particularly attentive to him. He even privately told his sons that Shen Zhi resembled the old matriarch the most.

The patriarch and the matriarch had been childhood sweethearts with a deep bond, but she passed away suddenly from a heart attack.

Now, a grandson with some resemblance had come along, making the patriarch particularly fond of Shen Zhi.

Even Shen Jiming, Shen Zhi’s father, hadn’t anticipated that this move would be so effective. He quickly surpassed his two brothers.

Shen Yue had seen Shen Zhi’s angry side before. This kid was fierce—truly fierce. During a family meal at the mansion, someone quietly brought up Shen Zhi’s mother.

Their parents often badmouthed the third uncle at home, calling him evil for bringing an illegitimate child to fight for the family fortune.

Naturally, when they mentioned Shen Zhi’s biological mother, it wasn’t in a good light.

They got so carried away, driven by the frequent complaints from their parents and the obvious favoritism of their grandfather, that they practically wanted to curse Shen Zhi to his face.

Unexpectedly, Shen Zhi appeared.

The situation was awkward, but Shen Yue saw Shen Zhi’s stern expression and thought he was just pretending. So he provoked him.

The next thing he knew, his nose was bleeding from Shen Zhi’s punch.

The commotion alarmed the elders, and while Shen Zhi got scolded, Shen Yue didn’t fare much better either. He had, after all, insulted not only Shen Zhi’s mother but also his own third uncle.

The two became enemies.

Afterwards, Shen Zhi suddenly transformed from a genius into a troublemaker, fighting and causing chaos at school. Shen Yue initially felt smug, thinking Shen Zhi was no better than him.

But their grandfather never scolded Shen Zhi and even often invited him back to the mansion.

Now, Shen Yue saw him as a bigger thorn in his side.

“What are you acting tough for, you motherf…” Shen Yue began, but Shen Zhi took a step forward.

Shen Yue was so frightened that he shut his mouth.

He still remembered the beating Shen Zhi had given him. Though he loved to play around, he was no good in a fight. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been pinned down and beaten by Shen Zhi.

But now his friends came over, having seen Ji Ran spill milk tea on him earlier and noticing the brewing conflict.

“Young Master Shen, are you okay?” one friend asked, trying to curry favor.

Shen Yue, feeling humiliated, wished no one had seen his predicament. He shouted, “Are you all blind? It’s them…”

Ji Ran laughed, saying, “What, you want to hit people in public? Do you really think you can cover the sky with one hand?”

What an idiot.

She cursed silently in her mind.

Shen Yue glared at her, but Ji Ran remained unfazed, waving her phone and calmly saying, “If you don’t leave now, I’ll call the police. Everyone saw you harass me.”

Shen Yue, utterly embarrassed, realized fighting was impossible here. The Sky Realm had security, and they would intervene immediately.

So he glared at Ji Ran and shouted, “Just you wait.”

Ji Ran rolled her eyes at him and responded nonchalantly, “Oh.”

This girl didn’t know the meaning of fear, especially with spoiled rich kids. They might throw money at girls, but they didn’t have the guts to do real harm.
