Chapter 61-Part 2

She initially planned to attack the Tang family directly, using powder for those below level seven and unleashing Yan Hao on the level seven martial artists. However, she found the idea of using brute force too boring and thought it would be more interesting to make Tang Ning suffer first, so she changed her plan.

But if this approach failed, crushing them with force wouldn’t be a bad option either.

Tang Jing gave a mysterious smile, “I have a way to make her believe us. Eighth Sister just needs to provide the escape funds; I can handle the hiding place.”

Since Tang Jing said so, Tang Xin didn’t bother asking further.

She took out her communicator and said, “Give me your Federation Card number.”

Tang Jing hesitated for a moment before reporting a string of numbers.

Tang Xin operated her communicator.

Soon, Tang Jing received a message on her communicator.

When she opened it, she was shocked and exclaimed, “Eighth Sister?”

Her account balance had increased by 100,000 credits!

She had only expected Eighth Sister to sponsor her with twenty or thirty thousand credits, but she had given so much more!

Tang Xin, unfazed, instructed, “Get things done quickly. I’m waiting for your good news.”

Staring at the string of numbers on her communicator, Tang Jing was dumbfounded.

No wonder Eighth Sister said she wasn’t short on money.

“No problem, leave it to me,” Tang Jing promised confidently.

Recently, there were two rumors spreading within the Tang family.

The first rumor was that the steward had died in the pond, his spirit restless, seeking someone to accompany him. The unfortunate Tenth Young Master happened to cross his path and caught a similar strange illness as the steward.

The second rumor was that although the Tenth Young Master had not lost his strength, his gene level had dropped three grades, turning him into a D-grade waste!

The rumors grew more and more intense, and soon, most people preferred to take a longer route rather than cut through the garden.

In this atmosphere of fear, Tang Ning’s guard, in a ‘drunken slip’, blurted out in front of many people that Tang Ning’s gene level wasn’t A-grade.

The crowd was stunned.

What was even more shocking was that the pretty guard disappeared just a few days after making this statement.

Everyone believed that she had been secretly dealt with for speaking out of turn.

**

Tang Jingnan paced back and forth in the study, irritable and anxious, and shouted, “Why would your guard say such things in public? Where is she now?”

Tang Ning, anxious and uneasy, stammered, “I don’t know… I’ve been looking for her these past few days, but I can’t find her. I went to her house, and it was empty. Her brother is also missing.”

“Useless! Clueless and careless! What good are you?” Tang Jingnan’s dissatisfaction grew.

The matter of the gene level drop hadn’t been resolved, and now the entire Tang family knew about it.

Tang Ning silently endured the scolding. After a moment, he hesitated and said, “Father, could it be that the steward’s spirit really is—”

“Impossible!”

Tang Jingnan interrupted him without hesitation.

“There are no ghosts in this world. Besides, if the steward had turned into a ghost, why would he come after you instead of the person who harmed him?”

Tang Ning’s expression was uneasy, and he didn’t dare speak up.

Although he wasn’t the one who weakened the steward, he was likely the one who crushed the steward’s last hope.

The steward’s suicide was partly his fault.

Tang Jingnan stopped pacing and instructed, “Anyway, stay in your room for the next few days. Don’t see any guests, don’t talk much, and wait for the pharmacist to figure out a cure.”

Tang Ning hurriedly nodded, “Understood.”

“Go and stay put. I’ll handle the rest.”

Tang Ning opened the door and was about to leave when a group of people pushed him back into the room.

“Who?” Tang Jingnan frowned in displeasure.

Three people entered, two men and one woman, all in their seventies with graying hair.

The sole woman spoke, “Head of the family, the rumors about the garden being haunted have caused quite a stir. To calm everyone down, the Elder Council has decided to publicly test Tang Ning’s gene level to put an end to the speculation.”

Tang Jingnan’s heart sank.

The Elder Council could restrict the head of the family.

They usually didn’t interfere with his decisions, only stepping in when they deemed it necessary.

Their purpose was to prevent the head of the family from making unilateral decisions that could drag down the entire Tang family.

Each generation’s Elder Council comprised three people, chosen for their outstanding performance and character. All three elders had to agree to overturn a decision by the head of the family.

Clearly, the Elder Council now felt it necessary to reassure everyone by testing Tang Ning’s gene level.

If the test publicly revealed him as B-grade, it would be all over.

Feigning indifference, Tang Jingnan said, “Just the baseless conjectures of idle minds. Why bother the Elder Council?”

“Since it’s slander, we ask the Tenth Young Master to cooperate and undergo a test to clear his name,” the Third Elder signaled, and immediately, people stepped forward to restrain Tang Ning and drag him to the testing device.

“Damn it, let go of me! I am the Tang family’s Tenth Young Master! How dare you treat me like this!” Tang Ning screamed.

The Second Elder, the only woman, frowned slightly, “Truth will be revealed. Once tested, the Tenth Young Master will be exonerated. Please remain calm.”

At this point, even Tang Jingnan couldn’t stop it. He could only watch helplessly as Tang Ning underwent the gene test, clinging to a last shred of hope that it would show him as A-grade.

However, reality couldn’t be altered by wishful thinking.

The stark “B” appeared on the testing device.

Tang Ning immediately collapsed to the ground.

The three elders exchanged glances, communicating silently.

Tang Jingnan sighed deeply, unable to keep the truth hidden any longer.
