Chapter 68: Side Story—Tang Xin and Yan Hao Epilogue

After ransacking the Tang family vault and taking half of the inventory, Tang Xin’s spatial ring was filled with materials again.

She even found an interstellar map and planned a travel route.

“What’s special about this route?” Yan Hao asked, looking at the map for a long time but seeing no mystery.

As it turned out…

“These planets are said to have local delicacies,” Tang Xin said seriously.

As expected of the master, Yan Hao thought silently.

**

One year later.

Tang Xin sat in a restaurant, sipping soup, while checking her messages on the Star Network.

She kept in touch with Zhao Min and Tang Jing through the network, with the two leaving messages if there were any issues, making communication convenient.

As soon as she opened it, she saw a new message from Tang Jing.

Yan Hao reminded her, “We’ve been on this planet for a month already. You come here every day for lunch and dinner. Aren’t you getting tired of it? Should we go to another planet and try something different?”

“This restaurant’s soup is really good, and there are many varieties. Just one month is not enough to get tired of it,” Tang Xin said happily, taking another spoonful of soup.

Yan Hao was slightly exasperated, “Looks like I need to learn how to make this soup from the chef.”

Tang Xin laughed, “An eighth-level warrior, with a chance of reaching the ninth level, learning to cook soup? That would be hilarious.”

Yan Hao sighed, “It’s because you love it.”

“Never mind. In a few days, we’ll move to our next destination. After visiting all the planets, we can revisit the ones we like,” Tang Xin decided.

“Whatever you want, it doesn’t matter to me.”

“I just got a message from Tang Jing, saying Tang Jingnan went completely mad after divorcing all his wives. After being sent to the mental hospital, he got worse. Tang Jing sent me a video; he doesn’t recognize anyone in it. He looks like neither a man nor a ghost.”

Tang Xin summarized and lamented, “What’s the use of having so many children? None of them are willing to take responsibility.”

Yan Hao was slightly stunned, “That bad? What about the tenth young master?”

“He managed to survive despite being targeted by those who had pinned their hopes on him. Surprisingly, Tang Ning proved to be resilient after being thrown out of the comfortable environment. I thought he would cry and seek help,” Tang Xin replied.

“Seeing those who wronged me suffer makes me feel at ease.”

Yan Hao’s eyes curved in a smile; the Master did not hide her malice.

“Are you saying this in front of me to warn me never to cross you or to scare me away?”

Tang Xin looked up and leaned closer to Yan Hao, asking fiercely, “Are you easily frightened and ready to run away?”

“Yes,” Yan Hao said seriously.

“I have been timid since I was young. Master, remember to take care of vulnerable groups and love me well.”

Tang Xin laughed.

Suddenly, she remembered something, “You never forget to remind me about our three-year agreement for you to serve me and then gain your freedom. Shall we cancel the contract after lunch so you can run far away when scared?”

Yan Hao looked at her quietly, then sighed, “So cunning. You promised to set me free after the time was up, but kept enticing me. Now, my heart belongs to you, and even if I regain my freedom, I can’t leave.”

“Don’t think you can shake me off. For the rest of my life, I’m sticking with you, just like a couple supporting each other.”

Tang Xin wondered who was really enticing whom.

Yan Hao continued, “Talking about canceling the contract. Let’s go to the agency right now and change it to a lifetime commitment, till death do us part.”

“There’s no such contract, and who wants to grow old with you?” Tang Xin said, her face red, her words full of disdain, but her eyes were filled with joy.

When no one in the shop was looking, she secretly pecked Yan Hao on the lips. Once, twice, and again. Each time, she barely touched him before pulling away.

Yan Hao was nearly driven mad. Could she dare to kiss a bit longer?

When Tang Xin pulled away again, he wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly by the waist.

“Is this fun?”

“It is quite fun,” Tang Xin laughed.

Seeing his usually stoic face slowly crumble, revealing the genuine emotions only she could see, she felt an inexplicable sense of achievement.

Always teasing without taking responsibility, she was always so mischievous.

Yan Hao was helpless.

When Tang Xin leaned in to kiss him again, he held the back of her head with his big hand, not letting her pull away.

After a long moment, they separated.

Tang Xin was panting, displeased. “Didn’t you say you’d listen to everything I say? Liar!”

“I can listen to you about everything else, but not about this,” Yan Hao stated seriously.

He wasn’t joking; if he let her take the lead in this, he’d be driven crazy.

Tang Xin secretly held Yan Hao’s hand, her face serious.

“To prevent you from sneaking up on me, I need to hold your hand while eating. That way, I can eat in peace.”

“To prevent me from sneaking up on you, why don’t you just take the initiative to sneak up on me?” Yan Hao suggested sincerely, leaning closer.

Tang Xin laughed. “Who taught you this? You’re getting more and more improper.”

“No one needed to teach me; I learned it on my own,” Yan Hao said, his eyes burning as he stared at Tang Xin.

Deep inside, he always wanted to be close to her, naturally acting against his usual behavior and saying things he would never have said before.

Strangely, he didn’t feel any resistance inside.

Tang Xin stirred her soup, lost in thought.

Abandoned by her parents since childhood, she always felt insecure.

So she didn’t care about getting married.

To her, marriage was just a formality.

People who have strong feelings for each other can still stay together for life without getting married. Those who don’t, even if married, will eventually divorce.

All she wanted to know was how long this person could stay with her.

“I hope that no matter how much time passes, you will always stay true and passionate,” Tang Xin said softly.

Yan Hao hugged Tang Xin and whispered in her ear, “As long as you don’t push me away or find me annoying, I will always stay with you.”

If it’s Yan Hao, he should be trusted once…

Tang Xin, silent, hugged him back, taking the most adventurous step in her two lifetimes, whispering, “Let’s get married.”
