Chapter 28: Rules of the Psychiatric Hospital (12)
[At this moment, a college student is wrapping themselves tightly in a blanket, trembling in fear.]
[Never expected the most terrifying thing in this horror game instance would actually be a player.]
[I’m never gonna scold Sister Yu again; I’m scared she’ll crawl out of the screen to take my life.]
[If Sister Yu can get out of the horror game in the future, she can take a part-time job as a haunted house worker.]
[Give it a rest. A haunted house where she works—would you dare to enter?]
[No, I’m afraid of dying.]
—
The slick tentacles twisted and intertwined, yet the instant they touched Sang Yu, every single one of them snapped.
“What on earth did you do?!” The stone statue used its sharp voice to mask its panic.
Ever since becoming an Evil God, it had always been piously worshiped and offered sacrifices by humans, never once experiencing fear.
Yet the Sang Yu standing before it made it feel a shudder from the absolute depths of its soul.
“I don’t want your soul anymore! Leave! Get out of here right now!” The stone statue roared and shrieked.
The entire pitch-black space began to warp and destabilize from its terror.
Sang Yu smiled faintly. “You’re afraid of me, but… I really want to know what an Evil God tastes like.”
The tip of her tongue licked her crimson lips, her eyes burning like bright fire.
Her pitch-black hair cascaded down like a waterfall. She lightly twirled a stray lock of hair near her ear between her fingers, though upon closer inspection, one would notice a drop of bright red blood staining the strands.
The System was trembling in fear; this was its first time seeing such a terrifying side to its host.
Sure enough, when it comes to ghosts, not a single one of them is normal.
Before the stone statue realized it was already surrounded by black hair, it leaped down from the altar, attempting to slip away. However, its four limbs were suddenly bound tight by a dense mass of hair.
“Waaaahhh…”
The strands of hair tightened around its body like razor-sharp blades, immediately causing it to let out wailing, miserable shrieks.
Its shrieks sounded remarkably like an infant’s crying, making anyone who heard it feel unbearable pity, instigating an urge to spare its life.
Sang Yu knew this was the Evil God attempting to use a bewitching skill once again.
If it were a normal human, they would have fallen for it long ago.
Completely unmoved, she used her hair to slice off the stone statue’s four limbs directly.
Crack—
Like a toad with all four legs chopped off, the stone statue’s body tumbled to the floor, rolling right down to Sang Yu’s feet.
It lifted its head, panic flashing across its crimson eyes. “Spare me! I’ll help you obtain everything you want!”
Sang Yu looked down at it, finding it utterly dull. “Sorry, I don’t like eating the empty promises you bake.”
She squatted down, the tips of her fingers resting on the stone statue’s face as she let out a gentle smile. “However, I would really like to taste what you taste like.”
She hadn’t eaten an Evil God before!
Although it was a bit ugly, who knows, maybe it tasted great!
After all, in nature, plenty of hideous-looking animals tasted delicious.
Hearing Sang Yu’s words, the stone statue’s pupils shrank to tiny points.
“No, you can’t do this! I am a god! If you eat me, you will suffer a god’s curse—”
The stone statue let out a desperate, unwilling roar as more and more black mist spilled out from its body, attempting one final deathbed struggle.
However, before that black mist could even touch Sang Yu, it was devoured whole by the ghost energy surrounding her body.
Losing her patience, Sang Yu applied a bit of force with her fingers, instantly causing several new cracks to split across the stone statue’s head.
Gradually, the stone statue stopped struggling, and the crimson glow in its eyes slowly faded away.
Sang Yu cut off the stone statue’s head with her hair, examining it inside and out, upside down and backwards.
“Looks like it might break my teeth. Is this even edible?”
She hesitated slightly; after all, the stone statue was so hideous it made it hard to bring herself to take a bite.
The livestream audience had gone from terrified to completely numb. Seeing that Sang Yu had genuinely solo-killed the stone statue and was now contemplating eating it, they chimed in with suggestions in the chat room one after another:
[If you eat it raw, the taste might be a bit gamey. After all, this stone statue looks just like a toad. I suggest marinating it with Huadiao cooking wine to remove the gamey smell, then heat oil in a wok, throw in scallions, ginger, and garlic, flash-fry it on high heat, add half a bowl of water, and finally simmer it on low heat.]
[The tutorial above is too complex. For something like this, just coat it in a layer of egg wash, cover it in breadcrumbs, and deep-fry it in hot oil for five minutes. The college student next door would cry from how good it smells.]
[Even though we college students are a bit hard to kill, that doesn’t mean we’re immortal ಠ_ಠ]
[Based on the stone statue’s appearance, I think stewing it like dry-pot bullfrog would be the most reliable method.]
[Braised, oil-smothered, steamed, stir-fried, sweet and sour…]
[Fuck, now I’m hungry.]
—
Sang Yu had no idea so many viewers in the stream were giving her cooking suggestions. After considering it for a moment, she picked up the stone statue’s head and ultimately decided to… eat it raw.
Opening her vibrant red lips, she took a small bite of the stone statue’s head. However, its taste… instantly made her eyes light up.
“It looks so ugly, but to think it tastes so crunchy. Pretty delicious, actually.”
If she added some cumin and chili powder, the flavor would probably go up another level.
Sang Yu couldn’t resist taking another bite. Closing her eyes, she clearly felt a surge of evil power being swallowed down her throat into her abdomen. It tried to run wild inside her body, but was ultimately absorbed completely by Sang Yu.
And after absorbing this evil power, her ghost power indeed rose slightly.
“This thing really is a nutrient pill for me.”
Sang Yu narrowed her eyes in delight.
Just as she was about to take a third bite, she suddenly heard rushed footsteps.
“Little Yu…”
Brother’s voice came from behind her.
Sang Yu rotated her head a full 180 degrees around. Seeing Brother’s stern face, she felt an inexplicably awkward embarrassment at being caught red-handed.
“Little Yu, what are you doing?” Brother questioned, his tone devoid of clear emotion.
Sang Yu pursed her lips, speaking with an innocent expression, “Little Yu was hungry, so I came out to find something to eat.”
Hearing her answer, Brother’s eyes softened. He said tenderly, “Little Yu shouldn’t eat dirty, random things. You’ll get an upset stomach.”
He stepped forward.
Seeing that what Sang Yu held in her hand was the stone statue’s head, his expression didn’t change in the slightest.
Instead, he took the head away and tossed it onto the floor like trash.
The stone statue’s head rolled across the floor a few times before finally dissolving into a pile of fine powder.
“Brother, that was food I worked so hard to find.”
Sang Yu pouted slightly, letting out a silent sigh at what a pity it was.
She had wanted to gnaw on it for a couple more bites!
Brother reached out to hold Sang Yu’s hand, smiling dotingly.
“Don’t be angry, Little Yu. Brother has prepared even more delicious food for you.”
Sang Yu raised an eyebrow.
From her angle, she could see the ill intent hidden deep within Brother’s eyes.
“Then Little Yu is really looking forward to it!”
Sang Yu curled her lips, giving her neck another 180-degree twist to turn her head right back around.
Stepping out of the dark space with Brother, the corridor outside looked as though it had been ransacked—dilapidated walls, shattered window frames, and rotting, maggot-infested corpses visible everywhere…
This was the true fourth floor!
Without the Evil God’s power cloaking it, Xicheng Psychiatric Hospital restored its original appearance once again.
The desolate, ruined psychiatric hospital resembled a deserted building of the dead, radiating an air of complete decay…
