Chapter 24: Rules of the Psychiatric Hospital (8)
“Little thing, you can’t hurt me.”
The doctor pushed the glasses up the bridge of his nose, acting entirely composed.
Sang Yu said nothing, but in the next second…
She suddenly swung the nurse’s head like a club, smashing it straight down at the doctor.
Fast, accurate, and ruthless!
The nurse was momentarily dazed before letting out a sharp, agony-filled shriek.
“Ah! You crazy bitch, stop right now—”
However, Sang Yu was far too fast. The nurse’s head collided heavily with the doctor’s head, causing brain matter to splatter from both.
The doctor staggered back two heavy steps from the impact.
“You…”
His breath grew unsteady, a bloody hole smashed right into his forehead. Beneath his cracked eyeglass lenses, a pair of blood-red eyes glared, clearly enraged.
“Even though wearing human skin lets you block ghost power, it can’t block physical damage,” Sang Yu saw right through him. Beneath the doctor’s blood-stained coat was a patched-together sheet of human skin.
“Damned little thing, you ruined my favorite face!”
The doctor’s expression turned gruesome, completely stripped of his earlier handsomeness and elegance as blood gushed from the hole in his forehead.
Soon, blood smeared across his entire face.
Sang Yu ignored the doctor, instead looking down at the nurse’s head.
“Didn’t expect your head to be so hard.”
The nurse’s skull was cracked open, leaving her too furious to even speak.
Now that she knew the doctor’s weakness, Sang Yu naturally wouldn’t hold back.
Ghostly energy flooded the air, and her body instantly vanished from where she stood.
A split second later, she reappeared behind the doctor, snatching the scalpel right out of his hand.
The sharp tip of the blade sliced straight down from the top of the doctor’s head, instantly ripping his entire scalp open to reveal a blood-red skull.
“NO—”
The doctor tried to fight for the scalpel, but his scalp had completely detached, dragging his facial skin down with it. His features distorted bit by bit, exposing his true form beneath the human skin.
[Urgh, I’m throwing up.]
[Fucking hell, my eyes! No wonder he had to flay someone else’s skin to wear.]
[Quick, get the censors in here! My eyes are polluted.]
[Haha, you guys were the ones judging by looks just now, and you’re still judging by looks now.]
Beneath the human skin, the doctor’s true appearance was beyond description. His face was covered in flesh lumps of all sizes, which secreted a brown mucus that kept the human skin alive.
“Ahhh… Die! Go to hell—”
The doctor clutched his face, a strange black mist rising from his body as he tried to entangle Sang Yu.
Sang Yu found these childish tricks boring. “It’s always the same two moves. Zero creativity.”
She let out a yawn. Without the protection of the human skin, the ghostly hands hanging from the ceiling instantly tore the doctor’s body into two halves.
Dark red blood left several heavy streaks of color across the walls on both sides of the corridor.
The doctor wasn’t dead yet; his upper body squirmed, attempting to flee.
However, Sang Yu brought her foot down, stomping him firmly onto the floor.
“How did it feel when you were stomping on someone else just now?”
Sang Yu looked down, a smile that didn’t reach her eyes resting on her face.
“Don’t… don’t kill me…”
The doctor’s eyes filled with terror as he began to beg for mercy.
Sang Yu remained completely unmoved.
She bent down and ripped one of the doctor’s arms off.
Immediately, countlessly many ghostly hands erupted from the floor, dragging the doctor’s body down into a deeper hell…
—
“Alright, time to go to the fourth floor!”
Carrying the nurse’s head in one hand and holding the doctor’s severed arm in the other, Sang Yu walked toward the elevator.
A brief silence fell over the livestream chat…
[Is this really a player? Are we sure she’s not a monster from the game in disguise?]
[First time seeing a monster look this miserable. Can barely stand to watch.]
[Feels like something terrifying snuck into the player camp.]
[Other players: I want to report this, someone’s using hacks here.]
—
Sang Yu walked into the elevator. Using the doctor’s severed hand, she pressed the button for the 3rd floor.
The elevator soon started running, descending vertically.
Inside the cramped space, the air felt suffocating and heavy. As the elevator slowly descended, the lights overhead flickered on and off.
When the elevator reached a position between the 5th and 3rd floors, that sinister energy appeared once again.
Snap—
The lights shut off, plunging the surroundings into pitch blackness.
Sang Yu’s expression remained unchanged as she continued to feel the elevator descending.
Finally reaching the third floor, the elevator doors opened to reveal an empty corridor.
Following the nurse’s reminder, Sang Yu pressed the button for the fifth floor. The elevator slowly began ascending again.
In the pitch-black space, all senses were magnified to the extreme. Sang Yu heard rustling, crawling sounds, as if countless insects were scuttling around inside the elevator walls.
Currently in her soul form, she could see in the dark, yet there was nothing eerie inside the elevator besides herself.
Ding—
The elevator reached the fifth floor, and the doors opened automatically.
Sang Yu looked outside; it was still pitch black. Everything had been swallowed up by darkness.
Her eyes flickered slightly as she stepped out of the elevator.
What should have been the psychiatric hospital corridor was now replaced by an endless expanse of dark void.
Standing in the darkness, Sang Yu began to count down.
“5”
“4”
“3”
Her voice sounded hollow and adrift, echoing back and forth in the dark.
“2”
“1”
Ding—
The sound of the elevator doors opening automatically rang out from behind her.
At that instant, Sang Yu felt a bone-chilling coldness sweep over her back—like a wild beast lurking in the dark, watching her soul with hungry eyes.
Sang Yu turned around, caught sight of the faint red floor indicator light inside the elevator, and walked back in.
Only after stepping inside did she realize that the button glowing red was indeed the 4th floor.
Sang Yu raised the doctor’s severed hand and pressed the button for the 4th floor.
The rustling sound rang out once more.
But this time, Sang Yu finally saw it clearly…
Wriggling tentacles were wrapped around all four walls of the elevator. Those tentacles were covered with bulging black lumps, twisting and intertwining around one another.
Seeing these disgusting things, Sang Yu felt deeply repulsed.
After a few seconds passed, the elevator doors opened, and Sang Yu quickly stepped out.
The corridor here was bright; even the walls on both sides were spotless white, looking just like a perfectly normal hospital.
Yet the surroundings were eerily quiet.
Sang Yu’s brows knitted slightly; that evil aura followed her like a shadow.
Suddenly, she heard a woman’s tragic, high-pitched scream.
Her expression shifted slightly as she instantly recognized the voice belonging to Zhou Muxue, another player.
Sang Yu walked toward the direction of the sound. A fishy, rotten stench grew increasingly thick.
Meanwhile, Zhou Muxue’s screams were gradually fading away…
At that moment, Sang Yu arrived outside a treatment room.
The door wasn’t closed, giving her a clear view of the scene unfolding inside.
Zhou Muxue lay scantily clad on the treatment chair, her body locked down.
A thick, heavy tentacle extended from the ceiling, drilling straight into her throat.
The fleshy lumps on the tentacle rolled into Zhou Muxue’s mouth one by one, swelling her stomach so much it was nearly about to explode.
Yet, far from looking in pain, Zhou Muxue’s face wore an expression of pure bliss.
