Chapter 29-Part 1

“Impossible; how could it be impossible?”

Qi Xing looked at the ointment he had made in disbelief, completely different from the hemostatic ointment. After trying it out, the therapeutic effect was even inferior to the hemostatic powder.

The fact was right in front of him, and he had to admit that he had failed once again.

“Why? Where did I go wrong?” Qi Xing pondered painfully.

For over ten consecutive days, he had been immersed in the laboratory, researching the formula for the medicinal ointment. His chin had a layer of dark bruises, he didn’t have time to tidy up his beard, and his hair was a mess like a bird’s nest. The once clean and tidy white coat was now crumpled, no longer having the elegant and composed appearance he used to have.

Qi Xing slumped in his chair, a sense of frustration surging within him.

He originally thought that there were only two types of medicinal ingredients for the hemostatic ointment. Even if he tried one method after another, he should be able to find the formula. However, reality dealt him a harsh blow. He had tried every method he could think of, but the resulting product was very ineffective.

“Medicinal stones have only one usage: grinding them into powder. As for the blue grass, whether it’s decoction, grinding, or extraction, mixing it with beeswax to make an ointment has no effect. I’ve tried every method, and none of them work.”

Qi Xing pinched his brows to relieve stress.

He had ruled out all other possibilities, leaving only one explanation—the unnamed pharmacist used an unconventional method for pharmaceutical preparation. Except for her, no one else knew about this method.

Suddenly, Qi Xing burst into laughter, appearing somewhat mad. “Double insurance; it’s actually double insurance!”

The first insurance was confusing the types of materials, and the second insurance was a special manufacturing technique.

In general, if there was a unique pharmaceutical technique, others couldn’t decipher the formula. The producer would not go to the extra trouble of adding another layer of insurance.

How cautious could the other party be? The confidentiality work was done to such an extent!

He thought he could easily decipher the true materials of the ointment and confidently entered the laboratory. He planned to thoroughly research it for two or three days, make the ointment, and present it to Zhao Min to prove him wrong.

However, reality threw a bucket of cold water at him, leaving him cold and heartless, almost losing his sanity after such a blow of confidence.

Smiling, Qi Xing clenched his fist, almost digging his fingertips into his flesh. The pain gradually calmed him down.

Qi Xing spoke slowly, a cold gleam flashing in his eyes. “Exceptional medical skills, extraordinary intelligence—this person cannot be allowed to stay.”

After confirming that he couldn’t research the formula for the time being, Qixing left the laboratory. He needed a good rest and some time to think about the next steps.

As soon as he stepped out, he saw Qi Yuan pacing anxiously in front of the laboratory door.

“What’s the matter?”

Qi Yuan heard the voice and turned around, delighted to see his master leaving the laboratory.

The master had greeted him before entering the laboratory. Unless it was urgent or a major issue, no one was allowed to disturb. Now that he was finally coming out, it must mean that he had successfully researched the formula!

Qi Yuan couldn’t help but feel happy.

Business at the branch had sharply declined in the past few days, with sales not even reaching forty percent of the usual.

In the past, customers came to the store eagerly to buy hemostatic powder, and occasionally, when it was out of stock, a few customers would even fight to get their hands on it.

But now? The shelves were stocked with hemostatic powder, yet very few people visited.

Occasionally, a few customers, reluctantly taking a bottle to the cashier, would complain bitterly.

Some criticized Zhao Min for being useless, producing such a small quantity daily that couldn’t meet the needs of the masses. Others, in front of the staff at the branch, criticized Qi Xing as being incapable, unable to make a good healing medicine, and preventing others from doing so. Some were dissatisfied with the price of the hemostatic powder, claiming it was of lower quality but priced as high as the others.

Qi Yuan felt bitter in his heart. Having been the manager of the branch for several years, he had never been insulted like this. The customers were almost pointing fingers and cursing at him.

He wanted to be tough and kick out those disrespectful customers, but sadly, he found that almost all customers buying hemostatic powder at the branch couldn’t stop complaining. If he became tough, the sales at the branch would probably drop to less than twenty percent. He could only grit his teeth and endure.

Every time a customer scolded, he smiled as if he heard them singing praises to the Qi family.

Now! The master had successfully researched the formula, and the Qi family was about to return to its peak! Those customers could go wherever they pleased; he wouldn’t cater to them anymore!

Qi Yuan immediately congratulated his master, “Congratulations, Master, on researching the formula.”

Qi Xing’s expression twisted, and he said stiffly, “I haven’t researched it yet. I’m leaving the laboratory for now to rest in my room.”

Haven’t researched it yet? Qi Yuan doubted his ears, thinking he must have misheard. How could the master not have researched it when he took action?

He looked up at the master, noticing dark circles under his eyes with no hint of joy. Cold sweat ran down his back involuntarily.

Did he say something wrong just now?

Qi Xing had no patience for small talk and asked again, “What are you doing outside the door?”

Qi Yuan woke up, cautiously saying, “Miss Xu’s emotions are unstable. Master, do you want to go check on her?”

Xu Jiahui had special status in the Qi Xing family. It was clear to everyone with discerning eyes that she favored Qi Xing, so when there was something going on in the Qi Xing family, she was willing to help.

However, Qi Xing had never given her a formal position, and she didn’t work in the Qi family, so everyone referred to her as “Miss Xu.”

“What happened to her?” Frustration piled up in Qi Xing’s voice, one trouble after another.

“Business at the pharmacy has been bad recently. The leader of the guards deliberately found someone familiar to cause trouble at Zhao’s pharmacy. However, that person was driven out by Zhao Min and prohibited from entering again. The person then verbally abused the leader of the guards and extorted a large amount of compensation. After that, the leader of the guards secretly tried to find someone else, but no one else was willing to offend Zhao Min.”

“In addition, the unnamed pharmacist’s medicine powder is too poisonous. After drinking the detoxifying potion, Miss Xu’s poison was neutralized, but she was left with indelible scars on her face. Because of this, Miss Xu smashed all the mirrors in her room, and her mental state became unstable. Just now, an employee accidentally fell, unintentionally knocking off Miss Xu’s veil. Miss Xu immediately went berserk and broke that person’s neck.”

Qi Yuan rarely visited the main store and wanted to share his grievances with someone familiar. He sat down and discussed solutions, but as soon as he entered, he encountered such a frightening situation. He immediately wanted to slip back to the branch. However, the leader of the guards stopped him and sent him to inform the master.

At that moment, Qi Yuan wanted to curse. Why should I go when you guys don’t? Why call me instead? But looking at the robust figure of the leader of the guards and then at his own small frame, he could only run back and forth in front of the laboratory door, not daring to knock.
