Chapter 111-part 2

She would always live up to Xue Hang’s expectations and trust, relying on herself because only oneself was the most reliable thing.

Jiang Nian had been on the crew for several months, going through the motions day in and day out. But she hadn’t forgotten to send comforting messages to Mr. Xue every one or two weeks, maintaining contact but keeping it subtle. After all, she remembered all the great favors he had done for her, but there was no need to constantly talk about them.

During this time, Wang Jingjing had completely settled down because she had been put on the shelf by the company. Sun Xu had tried to show his face in public once, only to be collectively boycotted and scolded. He was forced to come out and apologize by a certain brand. He was even criticized by the Communist Youth League, becoming a laughing stock on the internet. He could only hide again.

When Jiang Nian heard about his situation from Jia Ping, she didn’t feel any emotion. Sun Xu’s fate was well-deserved punishment; he had it coming.

She continued to read the script. Today’s main scene for filming was a romantic one, a kissing scene.

During a mission, Song Chengcheng and Du Wei were almost discovered by the enemy. To escape, they pretended to be a secretly intimate couple. Du Wei kissed Song Chengcheng, confusing the enemy and narrowly escaping. Du Wei, as the male lead in the drama, played the role of the prodigal son of the Du family, wandering around aimlessly, so it was not surprising for him to do such a thing.

At this point, Song Chengcheng and Du Wei had developed mutual feelings for each other through various interactions. Although there was an underlying affection, they hadn’t revealed their true feelings due to the current situation. This kiss, though forced, was also an expression of their feelings for each other.

This was a pivotal scene.

To prepare for this kissing scene, Jiang Nian even brushed her teeth and chewed gum.

Xue Hang was dragged to visit the set by Zhou Zhi. Zhou Zhi had recently developed a liking for a young artist. He would always talk about how cute, beautiful, and gentle the girl was, but the only downside was that she always rejected his advances, which left him feeling frustrated.

Now, hearing that the young artist had come to the film and television city to shoot, Zhou Zhi was lovesick to the point of illness, insisting on dragging Xue Hang, Zeng Kai, and Zhao Cheng along with him. Normally, Xue Hang would not agree to such a thing, but surprisingly, he went along with it this time. Xue Hang knew that Jiang Nian was next door, and he gave his assistant several meaningful looks, but the assistant didn’t catch on.

Xue Hang cleared his throat. “I heard that the crew of ‘Before Dawn’ is next door. I wonder how it’s going?”

The assistant said that the producers and directors were overseeing it, and the actors they found were all talented, so everything was going smoothly. “Mr. Xue, you don’t need to worry!”

…Was he worried?

Xue Hang glanced at the assistant but remained silent.

The assistant scratched his head and tentatively said, “Jiang Nian has been in this crew for almost three months. I heard she is dedicated and hardworking, and the director really likes her!”

…Was the director liking her as the main point? Xue Hang said indifferently, with an air of dignity, “Then let’s go take a look.”

The assistant finally understood and smiled, saying he would arrange it immediately.

When the production vice director led Xue Hang to the set, the director was shooting intently. It was a dimly lit corridor, with a tall man in a black tuxedo, wearing a bow tie, and, with his back to the camera, holding a petite woman in a matching evening gown in his arms. His profile was handsome, his eyes wary, and she held onto his coat, her profile pressed against his chest, betraying a hint of nervousness.

The atmosphere seemed tense, as if danger were imminent!

She whispered softly, “What should we do?”

“Follow my lead.”

“Mm.”

This seemingly warm and ambiguous scene was also filled with hidden currents.

Suddenly, a questioning voice came through: “Who’s there?!”

Du Wei abruptly raised his hand, cupping Song Chengcheng’s face as his thin lips met hers. He held her slightly sideways as the enemy approached.

Du Wei then raised his head with a nonchalant and mischievous smile, pressing Song Chengcheng against his chest. He raised an eyebrow in dissatisfaction, a hint of alcohol on his breath. “What’s going on? Can’t you see I’m busy?”

“Cut!”

Along with this command, the assistant seemed to hear a faint cracking sound.

He turned to look at his boss, but saw that his expression remained unchanged, as if the cracking sound just now had been his imagination. He shook his head.

The assistant director chuckled, “Jiang Nian playing Song Chengcheng and Du Wei is a match made in heaven; they look like a perfect couple!”

The producer also chimed in, “Exactly, switching to Jiang Nian was the right decision. Jiang Nian and Xiao Qian will definitely not disappoint the audience! This espionage film, adding a bit of romance, is the finishing touch!”

Xue Hang’s tone was cold.

“Is that so? I think it’s just average.”

With that one sentence, both the assistant director and the producer felt like kneeling!

It seemed like the boss wasn’t happy or satisfied. What should they do???

The two exchanged glances and signals, even looking at the assistant next to Xue Hang. The assistant was also surprised. Xue Hang was being nice to Jiang Nian, so why not flatter her? Moreover, wasn’t the main reason for this visit to see Jiang Nian? Why was it just “average”?

It seemed like the director had also heard. If Mr. Xue thought it was just average, did that mean the scene wasn’t done well? He immediately expressed a strong desire to redo the scene: “Get ready, let’s do another take!”

Xue Hang: “……….???”
