Chapter 320: Childhood Friends Must Be Cultivated from a Young Age (3)

The adults of both families were quite troubled by this.

Zhou Ruoyun and Xiao Xueqing had taken a liking to each other, and now that they were neighbors, they naturally didn’t want to see their children not getting along. So, they kept coming up with ways to foster a bond between the two little ones.

Shen Mubai was cooperative, but ever since An Ziyu had been pinned down by her that day, his eyes were filled with reluctance and grievance whenever he looked at her.

Just like now, the two of them were sitting on the same cartoon mat, with An Ziyu turning his back to her like a little ball, clearly indicating that he didn’t want to play with her.

Shen Mubai, like a little witch, coaxed him, “Ziyu.”

An Ziyu sneaked a peek at Xiao Xueqing and Zhou Ruoyun chatting on the sofa in the distance, then turned slightly, pursed his lips, and replied in a soft, childish voice, “What?”

Shen Mubai looked at the toy in her hand, raised it, and asked, “Do you want to play?”

An Ziyu glanced at the toy in her hand, shook his head, then turned back around, lowering his head as he fiddled with something.

Curious, Shen Mubai crawled over to see what he was playing with.

Little An Ziyu quietly tugged at the fuzz on the mat with his chubby baby hands, his eyelashes long and curly.

Shen Mubai couldn’t help but chuckle.

An Ziyu, startled, hiccupped and turned around with a grievance, saying, “Don’t come over here, hic.”

Shen Mubai blinked her big eyes and said, “But I want to play with you.”

An Ziyu pursed his small mouth, hiccupped, and mumbled, “I don’t want to play with you.”

Shen Mubai asked, “Why not?”

Of course, a two-year-old couldn’t give a clear reason. They either liked something or they didn’t.

So Shen Mubai saw the little boy purse his lips, his eyes welling up with tears, “Don’t come over here, hic.”

She was startled and quickly coaxed, “I won’t come over.”

She crawled away a bit and then asked softly, “Is this okay?”

An Ziyu looked up at her, then lowered his head again, a tear hanging from his long, curly eyelashes, and said in a soft, sticky voice, “Okay.”

Shen Mubai couldn’t help but sigh inwardly—such a crybaby.

Thinking about the transformation needed, she wanted to sigh again. The saying “a long way to go” seemed to fit perfectly here.

Compared to the children’s interaction, Zhou Ruoyun was much more relaxed. The more she and Xiao Xueqing interacted, the more they felt like old friends.

Xiao Xueqing felt sorry for Zhou Ruoyun’s being a single mother. Although her husband was busy with work, she still had a complete family. Knowing that Zhou Ruoyun was raising her child alone, Xiao Xueqing decided they should visit often in the future.

So, during nap time, to foster a bond between the two kids, they planned to let them nap together.

An Ziyu’s eyes were filled with tears, almost crying, but remembering his mother’s instructions, he sniffled and held back his tears.

As the door closed, Shen Mubai and An Ziyu stared at each other.

An Ziyu clutched his little quilt and turned away, his face full of grievance.

Shen Mubai said, “Um.”

She thought about it and decided not to be annoying, so she lay far away and asked softly, “Ziyu, what do you like?”

An Ziyu didn’t want to answer her, but remembering his mother’s words, he pursed his lips and said in a soft, childish voice, “Cake.”
