Chapter 13: My Brother Is Not Human (13)

“BOOM—”

“BOOM—”

“BOOM—”

One deafening crash after another echoed through the air.

The glass by the window broke out into a web of spider-like cracks.

Brother’s expression turned frigid, the crimson depth in his eyes growing even more intense. His tone was laced with intense displeasure, “Blind, mindless trash—disturbing me while I’m celebrating Little Yu’s birthday.”

Sang Yu’s gaze grew heavy. That massive ghost face was emanating an exceptionally evil aura.

This thing…

Was a little dangerous!

[The last day really is a dangerous one.]

[The head of this ghost creature is massive. With the newbie’s tiny build, she wouldn’t even fill the gaps between its teeth.]

[It’s a three-star difficulty quest, how could it possibly be cleared that easily?]

[The newbie is truly in dire straits this time…]

[Serves her right! Who told her to live so comfortably and peacefully these past few days?]

[Jealousy is twisting my mind—kill ’em all, kill them all…]

“Little Yu, no matter what happens, under no circumstances are you to leave the villa.”

A sharp knife suddenly materialized in Brother’s hand. His cold, dark gaze stared straight at the ghost face outside the window.

His hands were very attractive, like flawless works of art; holding the sharp knife made for a strangely discordant sight.

Sang Yu nodded her head and said obediently, “I understand, Brother.”

It seemed Brother must have set up a barrier around this villa—monsters on the outside couldn’t enter at all.

This was also the exact reason why the ghostly entities inside the villa had tried every trick in the book to force her to leave the house.

The villa shuddered more and more violently. The glass window finally couldn’t take the impact and shattered entirely into dust.

A massive, black ghost claw tried to reach inside, but in the very next second…

The ghost claw seemed to make contact with something horrifying. Its withered yellow skin cracked inch by inch, giving off plumes of black smoke.

The black smoke released a pungent, foul stench, causing Sang Yu to frown slightly.

“Come out…”

“Get out here…”

The ghost face let out a sharp roar, its twisted, gruesome face distorting even further.

It stared dead at Sang Yu, its blood-red pupils flooded with sinister chill.

Sang Yu shifted her footsteps, hiding behind Brother.

“Brother, it’s glaring at me,” Sang Yu tattled.

Brother’s eyes flickered slightly, and then he smiled, “Then Brother will go gouge out its eyes.”

With a loud BANG, the door of the villa opened automatically. A gust of icy wind swept inside, knocking the birthday cake and tableware off the dining table onto the floor.

Brother’s hair was tossed in disarray, the razor-sharp tip of the knife in his hand reflecting a cold, icy gleam.

His expression remained completely unchanged as he walked toward the door step by step.

The ghost face’s pupils darted around, a barely perceptible flicker of retreat flashing in its eyes.

“I only want that woman. Mind your own business,” the ghost face declared.

Judging by its tone, it didn’t want to make an enemy out of Brother.

Brother tilted his head, his hanging hair partially concealing his eyes. The crimson light within his gaze exuded extreme malevolence.

His voice was slow and deliberate, “Little Yu is mine. Anyone who tries to snatch Little Yu away deserves to die.”

“BANG—”

The villa’s front door slammed shut in an instant.

Brother and the ghost face were locked outside, leaving no one able to see what was happening out there.

However, the crisis had not dispersed.

From the basement that had only just fallen silent, a weird noise suddenly echoed.

“Zzz-zzz-zzz… Zzz-zzz-zzz…”

The wiring of the lightbulbs in the living room flickered erratically, buzzing continuously.

The door to the basement opened slowly. The interior was pitch-black, resembling a giant demonic maw that emanated an icy, evil aura.

“Sang… Yu…”

“Sang Yu…”

A raspy voice, impossible to distinguish as male or female, called out Sang Yu’s name slowly.

Sang Yu’s expression didn’t change as she stared unblinkingly at the basement entrance.

Suddenly.

Two bloody hands reached out from the basement, leaving two horrifying, stark blood handprints on the clean floor.

“Sang Yu, why… won’t you listen to Mom and Dad?”

“Naughty children… must be punished…”

The hoarse voice clung like a parasite, lingering persistently in Sang Yu’s mind.

Finally, the adoptive parents inside the basement crawled out completely. But their current appearance caused the pupils of all the viewers in the livestream to shrink in shock.

[HOLY CRAP, what kind of disgusting monster is this?!]

[Where is the mosaic filter? Quick, put a censor block over it for me!]

[Good thing I had the foresight to turn on the beauty filter beforehand.]

[After watching horror livestreams so many times, this is the first time I’ve seen something this disgusting!]

[Need help! I just finished eating spicy hot pot and threw up back into the bowl. My boyfriend just got off work and insists on eating my hot pot, what should I do?]

[You silly goose, agree to it, of course!]

Upon seeing this mysterious pair of adoptive parents, even Sang Yu’s pupils quivered slightly.

At this moment, the two looked entirely non-human.

They were completely naked, but their skin was fused together, stretching the thin layer of human skin to the point of near transparency, making their internal organs clearly visible.

As they crawled forward, the human skin between the two was torn apart. Especially around their face area, due to the violent pulling, their features were twisted out of shape. Their eyeballs were almost bulging out of their sockets, and their blood-drenched faces were terrifying beyond measure.

How did they end up in this state?

It was likely that all the answers laid within the basement.

“Sang Yu, it’s all your fault…”

“If not for you… we wouldn’t… have turned into this.”

“You deserve to die…”

The adoptive parents’ voices were hysterical.

Dragging their clumsy bodies, they slowly crawled toward Sang Yu.

Strands of black mist spread out from their bodies, transforming into thick, heavy tentacles.

“Host, run quickly!” the System yelled anxiously.

Sang Yu remained stationary, saying calmly, “Don’t panic.”

System: “I’m panicking a lot.”

Seeing danger closing in while Sang Yu remained entirely motionless, the livestream viewers started roasting her one after another.

[Is this newbie scared out of her mind?]

[She doesn’t even know how to dodge, stupid to the core.]

[I thought the newbie was just playing dumb all along, didn’t expect her to actually be dumb.]

[The poor girl is about to croak, everyone go easy on her with your comments.]

[May your journey be peaceful.]

[May your journey be peaceful.]

[May your journey be peaceful — Delivery estimated time.]

By now, the black tentacles had wrapped tightly around Sang Yu’s body.

The adoptive parents’ disfigured faces reached a peak of frenzy. Their hermaphroditic voice burst into loud, grating laughter.

“Hahaha, we caught you! Using your life, we can get our original bodies back in no time!”

Their bulging eyeballs stared dead at Sang Yu.

The tentacles dragged Sang Yu toward the basement little by little.

Sang Yu didn’t resist; she even took the initiative to step toward the basement.

She wanted to see what kind of monstrous thing was hidden inside that basement after all.

Stepping into the basement, a bone-chilling, icy wind blew straight into her face.

Sang Yu shivered, feeling as though her entire body had plunged into an ice pit.

Cold.

It was way too cold here!

Inside the pitch-black basement, it was so dark that she couldn’t see her own hands.

A barely noticeable crimson gleam flashed in the depths of Sang Yu’s eyes. Re-opening them, the surroundings came clearly into view.

Catching sight of the basement’s true face, she gasped softly.

“This is…”
