Chapter 12: My Brother Is Not Human (12)
Sang Yu’s breathing grew increasingly disordered. She felt Brother’s ice-cold hands wandering across her spine. Her body was flushed with a subtle crimson, her lips slightly swollen.
However, just as she was anticipating Brother to take things further…
The man’s actions came to a sudden halt.
“When it’s Little Yu’s birthday.”
Brother’s long, slender fingers adjusted Sang Yu’s slightly disheveled clothes.
Sang Yu instantly felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over her head, all her desire vanishing into thin air.
This hateful man—arousing her desire only to hit the brakes out of nowhere.
How buzz-killing!
“Brother, you’re pretty bad.”
Sang Yu ground her teeth and bit into Brother’s shoulder, venting her dissatisfaction.
Brother’s brows arched slightly, making no move to stop Sang Yu’s little retaliation.
“Be good, go to sleep.”
Brother wrapped his arms around Sang Yu and soon closed his eyes.
Sang Yu wasn’t sleepy at all, but hearing Brother’s faint, steady breathing, drowsiness slowly washed over her.
Letting out a yawn, Sang Yu curled up in Brother’s arms and drifted off to sleep.
When she woke up, Sang Yu was the only one left in bed.
“Where is Brother?”
She rubbed her eyes and sat up from the bed.
The System said, “The target is on the first floor.”
Sang Yu walked over to the window and pulled it open.
Outside, it was already pitch-black.
“I actually slept for this long?” Sang Yu frowned.
The System nodded, “Yup, Host, you were sleeping like a dead pig.”
Sang Yu, “Shut up.”
Sang Yu went downstairs to look for Brother. Just as she reached the top of the staircase, a rapid “thump, thump, thump” echoed from the kitchen.
A stench of rot permeated the air, making her scrunch her nose.
“Brother, what are you doing?” Sang Yu arrived at the kitchen, and the sight inside sent a jolt through her eyes.
Spread across the kitchen were over twenty human heads. The rotting facial features of the heads were contorted in agony, their eyeballs filled with terror.
Brother held a meat cleaver in his blood-stained hand. Dark red blood splattered across his face, making him look bizarre and dangerous.
Seeing Sang Yu come down, he smiled gently and said, “Little Yu said this morning that scary things were disturbing your sleep. Brother cleared all these things away so nothing will bother Little Yu tonight.”
In a matter-of-fact tone, he uttered horrifyingly gruesome words.
Meanwhile, those human heads raised their voices into sharp shrieks, pleading with Sang Yu for help.
“Sang Yu, save us…”
“Sang Yu, make him stop…”
“No, we don’t want to die…”
The kitchen instantly became noisier than a bustling wet market.
Sang Yu didn’t say a word. These dead heads were full of lies anyway—chopping them up was fine.
“Hush, shut up—”
Brother said softly, a flash of scarlet light gleaming in his eyes.
The flesh on the mouths of those heads instantly fused together, rendering them unable to make another sound.
“Anyone who wants Little Yu to leave me must die.”
Brother’s voice was frigid. He casually grabbed one of the heads.
With a swift drop of the blade, the head was chopped in two. In the murky eyeball, the very last glimmer of light instantly extinguished.
Sang Yu looked at the bisected head and suddenly felt a chill down her neck.
Brother didn’t go to night shift tonight, and Sang Yu spent another peaceful night in the villa.
The fourth day…
The fifth day…
The sixth day…
In the blink of an eye, the final day of the quest arrived.
As long as she survived until midnight tonight, Sang Yu’s quest would be successfully completed.
During these past few days, Sang Yu stayed in the villa every day doing nothing but eating, sleeping, and kissing and hugging Brother. Favorability had been grinded up to 95%.
Life couldn’t be more pleasant.
The livestream viewers had gone completely numb.
[Players in the livestream next door are struggling to survive in the game, but is the player in this stream here on vacation?]
[Living in a luxury villa every day with a handsome man who excels in both the parlor and the kitchen—whose envious tears are drooling out from the mouth?]
[I strongly suspect this newbie came in through the back door.]
[Never thought the day would come when I’d actually envy a player chosen by the horror game.]
[Other players: I must be playing a fake horror game.]
[This is the correct way to open a horror livestream!]
Sang Yu couldn’t see the bullet chat. Today was her eighteenth birthday, but an uneasy feeling loomed in her heart.
Sure enough, this game wasn’t that simple.
Every adopted orphan shared the exact same birthday: November 28th.
So today… what on earth was going to happen?
A faint look of anticipation flickered in Sang Yu’s eyes.
Brother had prepared a birthday cake for Sang Yu.
“Little Yu, happy birthday.”
Brother patted her head.
The candles on the cake burned softly. Under the flickering flames, Brother’s smile grew increasingly eerie.
“Brother, happy birthday,” Sang Yu replied in kind.
“Little Yu, make a wish,” Brother said in a soft voice.
Sang Yu’s expression dazed slightly. Having been a ghost for so many years, did she even have any wishes?
The candlelight swayed in her dark pupils. Sang Yu blew out the candles directly without blinking once.
“BANG—”
“BANG—”
“BANG—”
The moment the candles went out, violent pounding sounds suddenly echoed from the basement.
“Little Yu, run…”
“The man outside is not your brother at all!”
“He’s a monster! He wants to eat you…”
From the basement, the voices of her adoptive parents shouted hoarsely in desperation.
“Does Brother really want to eat me?”
Sang Yu sat in her chair without moving, tilting her head to look at Brother.
The arc of Brother’s lips deepened into a smile as he said softly, “That’s right, I want to eat Little Yu. Is Little Yu scared?”
His tone was full of enchantment.
“Not scared. After all, I want to eat Brother too.”
Except, her version of “eating” was a completely different kind.
Sang Yu licked her lips with the tip of her tongue, craving Brother a little.
The adoptive parents imprisoned in the basement seemed to have heard Sang Yu’s conversation; they instantly fell silent.
“Sang Yu, don’t be bewitched by him!”
“He’s an evil entity, best at bewitching people!”
“As long as you leave this villa, you will be safe!”
“Hurry up and leave this place…”
The adoptive parents’ voices grew increasingly anxious, as if they were genuinely terrified for Sang Yu’s life.
Sang Yu looked toward the basement entrance and said calmly, “You went through all that trouble just to get me to leave the villa. The real danger must be outside the villa, right?”
The noise in the basement abruptly ceased.
“Whether it’s the female ghost in the mirror, the corpse inside the TV, the heads inside the dolls, or you imprisoned adoptive parents…”
“All of your goals were to force me out of this villa.”
“Outside the villa… what exactly is waiting for me?”
Sang Yu suddenly turned around and looked out the window.
Outside the pitch-black window, nothing could be seen clearly.
But the very next second…
BOOM—
A deafening crash sounded.
The entire villa shuddered.
A massive ghost face slammed onto the window, its blood-red eyes staring dead at Sang Yu through the glass.
Greedy… evil…
