Yu Jingchen looked at her with a confused, innocent gaze, his eyes full of pure, naive obedience.

Feeling awkward seeing how innocent he was, Shen Mubai hesitated before explaining, “I just felt like we have a good connection, and you seem to be a really good actor. I don’t have many friends in the entertainment industry, so I just wanted to take you as a younger brother. If you don’t want that, we can just be friends.”

The blush on Yu Jingchen’s face faded slightly.

He lowered his gaze, his tone a bit disappointed, “Is that all?”

Shen Mubai, oblivious, nodded, “Yes, that’s all.”

Yu Jingchen bit his lip, then lifted his eyes, which looked as innocent as a fawn’s. With a shy smile, he said, “Then, Sister Xiaoxing, I’ll be in your care from now on.”

He looked down shyly, adding, “I don’t have many friends either, so I’m really happy to know you.”

Overjoyed, Shen Mubai grabbed his hand and said, “No worries, I’ll be your best friend from now on!”

Feeling the softness of his hand, Yu Jingchen looked at her face and shyly smiled, “Okay.”

The box lunches from the crew weren’t actually that bad, though they were a bit light on meat.

Shen Mubai habitually picked out the meat to eat first.

She wasn’t a big fan of vegetables, but she decided to finish them to avoid wasting food.

At that moment, a hand reached over and placed a few pieces of beef into her lunchbox.

In a soft voice, he said, “Sister Xiaoxing, you seem to really like this.”

Completely unaware of how intimate the gesture was, Shen Mubai looked at the meat in her box lunch and said, a bit embarrassed, “You shouldn’t give me your food, or you won’t have enough to eat.”

Yu Jingchen smiled shyly, “I don’t really like this anyway.”

His eyes were bright and pure, and his expression was incredibly sincere as he said this.
