Half City Of Love - Chapter 16
Chapter 16
Lord Feilian no longer had the heart to carry on any bets with her. He clutched the wild, dancing hair on the other side of his head, on the verge of going mad.
“Hurry up and turn this side black too! Hurry!” he roared.
Xuanyi restrained her smile and spoke in a unhurried manner, “Could it be that Lord Feilian wishes to get what he wants without offering anything in return?”
Lord Feilian immediately flew into a rage, yet his hair was half white and half black, making him look tens of thousands of times more ridiculous than before. If he did not fix it, he could not even step out of his room.
At this moment, he had no choice but to suppress his anger and say in a deep voice, “Fine! I promise you! But whether I win or lose, you must fix my hair for me!”
Xuanyi reached out a hand toward him, “I have already proven that I was not lying, so Lord Feilian should show some sincerity as well. Give me the three Essences of Moon Glow first. If I lose, I shall return them in full.”
Lord Feilian trembled with rage. He was actually being played like a fiddle by a little brat like her!
The three tear-like Essences of Moon Glow were thrown over viciously.
Xuanyi caught them steadily in her palm.
Before she could even take a close look, Lord Feilian was already impatient, “Speak! What are we betting on?”
Xuanyi pondered for a moment and said, “I do not like fighting and killing. Let us play the simplest question-and-answer game. I ask and you answer to see whose knowledge is more profound. If you answer correctly, I lose. If you answer wrong, I win. What does Lord Feilian think?”
Lord Feilian sneered, “Is that so? How old are you anyway? Just because you rely on a bit of petty cleverness, you think your knowledge is profound?”
“You do not need to worry about that, Lord Feilian. Is it a deal or not?”
Lord Feilian rolled his eyes, “If I answer wrong, it cannot count as your win. You must also answer correctly for it to count as a win! Otherwise, you still lose!”
Xuanyi glanced at him, “Lord Feilian is actually haggling over every detail like this.”
“Cut the nonsense! Just ask!” As if afraid she would go back on her word, he added, “You are not allowed to ask weird questions that no one can answer!”
Xuanyi tilted her head, pretending to think hard.
After a long while, as if suddenly coming up with a good idea, she smiled and said, “Lord Feilian, I heard that the Moon Sands in the four flowerpots inside Wangshu Palace were all condensed from your divine power. Then let me ask you, how many Moon Sands were transformed into nothingness by me just now?”
Lord Feilian looked suspicious.
What sneaky idea was she trying to pull again? Even the gatekeeping fairy could answer this question without hesitation! All the celestial gods in Wangshu Palace knew that since his birth, Lord Feilian condensed one grain of Moon Sand a year. This year he was three hundred and twenty thousand years old, so there were three hundred and twenty thousand grains of Moon Sand in total.
The little brat was definitely tricking him again!
He raised his hand and summoned. The Moon Sands that were transformed into nothingness earlier gathered in his palm in an instant. He looked them over carefully countlessly times, up and down, left and right. Still feeling uneasy, he glared at Xuanyi, “All three of you, stretch out your hands! Spread them out! Raise your feet too!”
Xuanyi gasped with an “Oh dear” and a face full of regret.
Pouting her mouth, she spread open her hand, only to reveal a single gleaming golden grain of Moon Sand resting in her snow-white palm.
Lord Feilian laughed loudly, raising his hand to take back that grain of Moon Sand, utterly triumphant, “I knew you would play tricks!”
Xuanyi pouted her mouth without speaking.
He smiled and said, “That is right, it is like this. The Moon Sands transformed into nothingness by you just now were three hundred and twenty thousand minus one grain in total! I won! Hurry up and fix my hair!”
Xuanyi’s eyes glistened, and she said softly, “Lord Feilian is clearly wrong. How could you have won?”
Lord Feilian flared up in anger, and wild winds swirling with Moon Sand raged inside the hall once again, “Do not think that just because you are young and a girl I won’t actually beat you up! The ironclad proof is right in front of us, and both of your senior brothers can testify! You still want to play tricks?!”
Xuanyi said calmly, “When I say you are wrong, you are wrong. If you do not believe it, feel carefully around your hair two inches below your left ear.”
Half-suspicious, Lord Feilian indeed reached out and felt carefully through his hair a few times. Suddenly, as if touching something, his expression changed drastically. He snapped his hand back, only to see a grain of Moon Sand wrapped in pitch-black mist pinched between his fingers—she had actually hidden two! She intentionally left one in her hand to lure him in, while hiding the other in his hair using the Darkness of Zhuyin!
“Therefore, the Moon Sands transformed into nothingness by me should be three hundred and twenty thousand minus two grains. Lord Feilian, I won.”
Xuanyi smiled brightly and reached out her hand, “Accept the defeat and hand over three strands of hair.”
Lord Feilian’s face had never looked so ghastly. He widened his eyes and stared at her intently. His expression was grim to begin with, making him look terrifying.
Xuanyi acted as if she did not notice, casually urging him, “Lord Feilian, the hair.”
Guting originally thought Lord Feilian would at least fly into a rage, or at the very least roar a couple of times. Unexpectedly, he said nothing at all, quietly pulling out three strands of hair and handing them to Xuanyi.
Xuanyi drew out only one strand and handed it to Guting. Wrapping the remaining two silver hairs that danced without wind around her fingers, she smiled and said, “Lord Feilian indeed possesses great magnanimity. Thank you.”
She glanced outside the palace, “Senior Brother Guting, it is getting late. Please return to report to Master first. Once I fix Lord Feilian’s hair, I shall follow.”
However, she only gave him one hair? Master wanted three.
Guting was thoroughly perplexed. Nevertheless, the three items Master requested were roughly secured. Furthermore, Lord Feilian was violent and eccentric, so reporting back to Master was indeed more important. He bowed to Lord Feilian, glanced at Fucang, and signaled him to leave together.
Fucang, who had been as still as a wooden block ever since entering Wangshu Palace, finally moved. Before he could step forward, Xuanyi tightly grabbed his sleeve in the next moment.
“Senior Brother Fucang, stay and keep me company.”
She smiled faintly, “I will be quick.”
Guting left alone, completely bewildered.
Fucang looked down at her hand gripping his sleeve.
She held on so tightly, using all her strength.
Her voice was very low, “Do not think about slipping away. We share trials and tribulations together.”
Lord Feilian, who had been silent for a long time, finally spoke. His voice was unexpectedly calm, “Little girl, fix my hair.”
Xuanyi neatly and swiftly released the Darkness of Zhuyin, dyeing his wild silver hair on the right side black and smoothing it down inch by inch until the very last silver hair turned black, hanging obediently behind his shoulders.
Xuanyi took two steps back and bowed, “The matter here is settled. Farewell, Lord Feilian.”
Lord Feilian’s gaze remained glued to her. Suddenly, he said in a low voice, “You are very good. This is the first time a celestial god has managed to pull hair from me… What is your name?”
Xuanyi replied expressionlessly, “My name is Jiligulu Dragon.”
In the next moment, wild winds cut through like blades. Lord Feilian’s cold voice exploded from the wind, “I never beat nobodies! Little brat of the Zhuyin Clan! Who gave you the nerve to act arrogant in front of me! Today, I shall keep one of your hands to wash away this disgrace!”
Xuanyi hurriedly dodged the wind blades, only to feel her hand lighten.
That damnable Fucang had actually broken free!
He dared to run away by himself?!
Amidst the wind and sand, she spotted that snow-white figure.
Throwing away all decorum, she pounced on him like a hungry tiger, using both hands and feet to cling to him tightly.
The Zhuyin Clan was valiant, matchless, and fearless of magic, yet this weird dragon princess actually wanted to use him as a meat shield!
Fucang’s face turned icy cold, and he said in a low voice, “Let go!”
Not a chance! She said they would share trials and tribulations together, so even if she got beaten, she was going to use him as a shield!
Xuanyi exerted force and bit into his clothes.
