Half City Of Love - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
The Huaxu Clan was renowned for their elegance and nobility. Ever since he gained awareness of the world, all the divine lords and goddesses Fucang had seen were gentle, refined, and serene. Yet, in the realm of gods, there actually existed a presence like this princess of the Zhuyin Clan, who, every single time, managed to violently tear out the malicious side of him.
Without a second thought, he reached out, intending to throw her off. Who would have guessed that this seemingly delicate and graceful princess, at critical moments, moved like a mouse—both vulgar and nimble. Hands, feet, and mouth were all put to use, even her chin came in handy as she slid down into his armpit to hide.
Driven to extreme anger, Fucang laughed instead, “The Zhuyin Clan has broadened my horizons yet again today.”
Run, quick!
Xuanyi urged him with her eyes.
Huge, intersecting wind blades were right in front of them. Fucang had no time to squabble with her. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of wild winds and flying sand everywhere with nowhere to hide. Taking a direct hit from a wind blade would inevitably cause severe injuries—the anger of Lord Feilian was no small matter.
There is a gap above the south of the hall!
His reaction was exceptionally quick. He immediately rode the wind in an attempt to break through Wangshu Palace and escape, only to hear Lord Feilian sneer.
The Moon Sands had already darted out like snakes. Fucang only felt his ankles tightly bound as if by a giant python, unable to fly any higher.
Seeing that wind blades were about to shoot out from Lord Feilian’s palm again, Fucang was ensnared and could not dodge—Useless Huaxu Clan!
Xuanyi scrambled out from under his armpit, spotting an opening and intending to run first. Out of nowhere, her wrist was tightly seized. She struggled in every possible way, stomping both feet hard onto his chest, immediately leaving countless black footprints on Fucang’s snow-white clothes.
“Didn’t you say we share trials and tribulations together?”
Fucang smiled faintly, his naturally alluring voice sounding almost like flirtation, yet a chill flickered in his eyes, “Stay here with me!”
He flicked his finger against her knee, leaving her completely powerless as she tumbled down, bumping her head straight into his chin.
As if afraid she would run again, he mercilessly grabbed the long braid behind her head in his hand, wrapping it around several times.
Xuanyi was in so much pain that tears sparkled in her eyes.
This ruthless brute! What cool and moonlight-like divine lord? He was clearly a bastard with no divinity at all! His chin was right before her eyes, and she opened her mouth to bite down hard on it.
As if shocked by her shameless act, Fucang wrapped the braid in his hand two more times.
The pain made her raise her hand to strike, kicking his legs and waist wildly with both feet without any restraint.
Such savage and brutal behavior from two gods who were supposed to be so elegant and noble even left Lord Feilian somewhat stunned.
Holding the wind blade in his hand, he forgot to throw it, and it unconsciously dispersed.
The two young gods above had already escalated to hurling verbal abuse at each other.
Probably due to the pain, Xuanyi’s soft voice sounded as if it were trembling, “It seems the Huaxu Clan excels most at pulling hair!”
Fucang’s voice was gloomy, “The Zhuyin Clan is not bad either, especially adept at swindling, deception, and burning bridges.”
“You were the one who used trickery to burn my clothes first!”
“I thought you were the one who provoked me first earlier.”
“It is because you are stupid yourself!”
“Is that so? As I said, the Huaxu Clan bears a grudge for every slight.”
Seeing that they were about to move on to a new round of hand-to-hand combat, Lord Feilian felt he truly could not bear to watch any longer.
The moral standards were degrading, and the hearts of gods were no longer what they used to be.
The young generation of gods nowadays was simply shameless and lacked any decorum! A divine lord and a goddess, engaging in a physical fight over a slight disagreement, even resorting to pulling braids and biting chins—it was truly an eye-opener for him.
“Look at what you have become!” Lord Feilian, an old conservative devoid of self-awareness, sternly reprimanded, “A divine lord knows no magnanimity, and a goddess knows no gentleness and elegance! The disciples of Emperor Baize are truly worsening generation after generation!”
Before he could finish his words, Fucang moved as swiftly as an escaping rabbit, severing the somewhat loosened Moon Sands with a single palm strike.
Xuanyi let out a breath, and the entire Wangshu Palace instantly fell into pitch-black darkness where one could not see their own hand.
The sudden turn of events left Lord Feilian stunned for a moment.
By the time the darkness faded, the hall was completely empty. The two gods who were fighting tooth and nail just a moment ago had long vanished without a trace. Only then did he realize he had been played once again. Rage instantly flared like madness within him, but recalling that the long-standing trouble with his hair had been resolved, he finally managed to suppress his anger, playing with his pitch-black, smooth long hair, unable to put it down.
Riding the wind and stepping on clouds without looking back, Fucang abruptly stopped only when the majestic outline of the Heavenly Palace vaguely came into view ahead.
A cool, jade-like hand was still resting on his forehead, her fingers pressed against his eye socket, with her bright red fingernails just a hair’s breadth away from touching his eyeballs—a silent threat.
“Let go,” he spoke coldly.
Xuanyi was clinging to his back like a monkey. Her braid behind her head was still wrapped in many loops around his hand, her neck stiffly held up.
“You let go first,” she refused to back down in the slightest.
Then let us stall.
Fucang looked down at the black footprints on his chest, tried dusting them off a few times to no avail, and simply gave up.
“Aren’t you skilled with weapons and violence?”
Xuanyi sneered, “Completely useless at critical moments.”
Fucang was expressionless, “You are quite the opposite—extremely useful at critical moments. I never knew you would dare to use any underhanded trick just to get Lord Feilian’s hair for Master.”
The so-called hair was merely Emperor Baize’s eccentric taste to begin with, and he had no intention of obeying it in the first place. Lord Feilian was infamous, and any rational god would not provoke a mad dog.
Xuanyi said leisurely, “Those gods who think they have a bit of skill act as if reason is on their side just because they wield weapons. I insisted on making him suffer.”
Fucang said calmly, “Gods skilled with weapons are all narrow-minded and bound to avenge every grievance. Be careful, Princess Dragon.”
Xuanyi originally wanted to continue trading jabs with him, but the silver hair wrapped around her finger suddenly twitched a few times.
Oh, she almost forgot, she still had two strands of Lord Feilian’s hair here.
She rubbed the silver hairs, opening her mouth to inhale gently.
Two streams of the Darkness of Zhuyin instantly surged out along the veins of the two hairs, returning to her body in less than the time it took for an incense stick to burn.
Presumably, Lord Feilian, whose hair had reverted to its original state right now, must be driven mad with rage again, right? That scene must be quite interesting.
“Junior Brother Fucang! Junior Sister Xuanyi!”
Taiyao’s shouts came from afar.
Upon hearing this voice, the two gods reacted extraordinarily fast. Fucang instantly tossed away Xuanyi’s braid, and Xuanyi rolled down from his back in a flash, instantly separating themselves by a full zhang apart.
In a short while, a large crowd of senior brothers rushed over in a hurry. Guting and Taiyao were both there, even Zhixi was following along. Seeing the several pitch-black footprints on Fucang’s chest and a row of bite marks on his chin, Guting’s expression instantly changed, and so did his voice, “Lord Feilian actually resorted to violence against you?! This divine lord is far too absurd! How are you? Are you injured?”
Fucang touched the bite marks on his chin, facing the concerned gazes of all his senior brothers with a natural expression, “I am fine. I caught an opening and escaped.”
Could not tell, he can lie too, and pretty smoothly at that. I knew he was not a good person.
“How could you be fine!” Zhixi looked even more nervous than Guting, leaning in to examine the footprints on his chest carefully, her face turning pale, “The chest is a vital spot! I heard that Lord Feilian never holds back. Forty thousand years ago, over a single disagreement, he fought with the Crown Prince of the South Sea Dragon God, beating him until he coughed up blood for three days! How could you take so many of his kicks! Quick, go back! Have Master check your injuries!”
A smothered laugh came from nearby. Zhixi bit her lip and turned around, only to see Xuanyi rubbing the two dancing silver hairs in her hand, lazily admiring the scenery.
“Your fellow disciple is injured, yet you can still laugh!” Zhixi was furious, “If you had not insisted on tangling with Lord Feilian, how could he have been forced to strike Junior Brother Fucang?! Can you still laugh?!”
Xuanyi touched her nose and said softly, “Pardon me, Senior Sister. Since Master ordered his disciples to retrieve the items, I must naturally do my utmost to fulfill the task. Fortunately, I did not fail the mission.”
She stroked the silver hair in her hand, looking righteous and inspiring.
Taiyao stepped in to smooth things over, “Just now, Junior Brother Guting rushed back to Mingxing Hall, saying only that both of you were entangled by Lord Feilian and might not be able to break free, so we rushed over to help. Since everything is fine, that is for the best. Let us all head back; Master is still waiting.”
As soon as his voice fell, the thunderous sound of wind resounded from behind.
Lord Feilian, with his silver hair dancing wildly, pursued them like a madman.
