Half City Of Love - Chapter 18
Chapter 18
Because Emperor Baize had coveted Lord Feilian’s hair for years, he sent every new disciple to ask the deity for a few strands. Having suffered from this errand, the gods here lost all composure the moment they saw the terrifying deity pursuing them with loud shouts. They fled as fast as their legs could carry them, wishing they had wings to speed away faster.
Xuanyi rode the wind leisurely, lagging behind, and heard Lord Feilian roaring in the distance, “You little brat of the Zhuyin Clan! Stop right there! How dare you trick me! I’ll tear you to pieces!”
When furious, his silver hair writhed like dancing snakes, looking utterly ridiculous. Xuanyi couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Seeing her glowing with amusement, Zhixi grew even angrier, “You brought this disaster upon us! He’s chasing us with loud shouts, what’s so funny?!”
Xuanyi glanced at her with a smile, “He’s chasing me. Why are the senior brothers running?”
Taiyao shook his head, “We’ve all suffered at his hands… Putting that aside, why is he chasing us again? What method did you actually use to get his hair?”
Everyone knew Lord Feilian had a fiery temper, but they had never seen him act so wild. No one knew what this quick-witted Zhuyin princess had done to him.
Twirling a strand of silver hair between her fingers, Xuanyi remained exceptionally calm, “I used the most legitimate method.”
Clearly a trick!
Gu Ting sneered internally.
Straightlaced by nature, he despised her shifty tactics.
Looking back, he noticed Lord Feilian’s hair, which had briefly turned black, was now silver again and thrashing wildly in the air. He blurted out, “How did you turn his hair back to normal?!”
No wonder Lord Feilian was chasing them like a lunatic, she had pulled a complete scam!
Xuanyi giggled, “I couldn’t bear to waste the darkness of the Zhuyin Clan on him. What a waste that would be.”
Gu Ting glared at her severely, “Such behavior is shameful! Stop right now and apologize properly to Lord Feilian!”
Xuanyi merely offered a sweet smile, completely unmoving.
Stamping his feet in frustration, Gu Ting suddenly gritted his teeth, turned around, and marched alone toward the menacing Lord Feilian.
Beside them, Fucang suddenly spoke to Taiyao, “Senior Brother Taiyao, may I borrow the sword at your waist?”
Hesitating briefly, Taiyao unbuckled the sword and whispered, “Junior Brother Fucang, Lord Feilian has been famous for a long time. Think carefully before taking action.”
Without a word, Fucang gently unsheathed the blade and flicked the blue, autumn-water-like surface with a finger. The sword produced a faint hum, as if endowed with life.
Over on the other side, Gu Ting stopped before Lord Feilian, hurriedly bowing, “Lord Feilian, please calm your anger! I apologize on behalf of my sensible-less junior sister! She is young and ignorant. I hope you will be generous enough not to hold a grudge!”
“Get out of the way!” Lord Feilian couldn’t care less about his babble. His eyes were fixed solely on that little brat of the Zhuyin Clan; he wouldn’t be satisfied until he caught her and tore her apart!
Irritated by the buzzing nuisance in front of him, he struck out mercilessly with a massive wind sword. Gu Ting never expected him to throw a lethal move so suddenly and froze on the spot, causing the surrounding disciples to cry out in shock.
Suddenly, the area for miles around plunged into thick darkness. The darkness arrived so abruptly that Lord Feilian, having already fallen for it once, involuntarily faltered again. In that single moment of hesitation, a sharp wind sliced past his ears. The icy chill of the sword made his skin prickle, and the top of his head felt noticeably lighter.
The darkness vanished as quickly as it came, revealing bright light once more in the blink of an eye.
Fucang had pulled Gu Ting back several yards. Holding the sword that shimmered like deep autumn water, he executed a graceful downward slash. A handful of writhing silver hairs drifted away in the wind.
Astounded, Lord Feilian felt the top of his head, nearly half of his hair had been sliced off by the sword.
Pushing Gu Ting behind him, Fucang held the sword and stared coldly at Lord Feilian in absolute silence.
“You… How dare you…” In a fit of rage, Lord Feilian could barely speak. A junior deity actually cut off his hair with a sword! And he had actually succeeded!
“You’re just relying on your seniority to bully others,” Fucang said coldly. “The ones you fight over every slight disagreement are always juniors. Consider this a lesson. Take one more step forward, and you can be bald from now on, it’ll solve your worries anyway.”
Unable to endure the insult, Lord Feilian roared. Moon sand mixed with wind swords and blades rained down relentlessly toward Fucang.
With Xuanyi out of the way and a sword in hand, Fucang didn’t evade at all. Holding the blade horizontally, he drew a circle across his chest. The radiance of the Liangyi and Bagua formed an iron wall, deflecting all of Lord Feilian’s lethal moves. He rose with the wind and, within a second, landed back onto the sea of clouds. With another flick of his sword, another clump of silver hair fell.
Having his hair cut twice in a row, Lord Feilian’s head of silver hair was left jagged and uneven, looking even more absurd. Watching the spectacle from the side, Xuanyi burst into laughter.
“It’s all because of you, little brat!”
Lord Feilian turned around and lunged at her with claws outstretched. How could he preserve his dignity without taking revenge?!
Xuanyi didn’t flinch. Watching him rush forward with a smile, she casually remarked, “You really only pick on the soft targets, don’t you?”
Three feet in front of her, Lord Feilian’s hand struck an invisible wall. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t touch her.
Roaring in frustration, he suddenly heard Emperor Baize’s voice from nearby, “Lord Feilian, please calm your anger. My disciple is young and cannot handle your wrath.”
The invisible barrier released a gentle yet irresistible force, knocking Lord Feilian back several yards until he landed on the sea of clouds with an unpredictable expression.
Only then did the disciples realize Taiyao had slipped back to the Mingxin Hall to fetch Emperor Baize. The child-like master wore only one shoe, his other foot bare, he had clearly been forced out by Taiyao. Indeed, the eldest senior brother was far more reliable than their master at critical moments.
Evidently confused, Emperor Baize looked left and right, then caught sight of Lord Feilian’s jagged hair and gasped slightly, “We only asked you to borrow three strands of hair. How did you end up cutting off most of his head?”
Removing the two silver strands wrapped around her fingers, Xuanyi presented them alongside the Glory of the Sun and the Essence of Moonlight, smiling, “Master, I have fulfilled the task. The third strand is with Senior Brother Gu Ting, don’t forget to ask him for it.”
Surprised and delighted, Emperor Baize realized the young girl truly had capability, she had actually managed to obtain Lord Feilian’s hair!
He hurriedly took the two silver strands, which measured over three feet long from root to tip. They were neat and smooth, clearly not severed by a sharp weapon, with a trace of divine power still lingering on them as they wriggled gently.
Glowing with joy, the Emperor praised, “Good, good, good! Excellent hair! Excellent disciple!”
Xuanyi reminded him, “Master, his Lordship is still furious.”
Carefully tucking the silver hairs into his sleeve, Emperor Baize adopted a serious expression and bowed to Lord Feilian from afar, “Thank you for your generosity, Lord Feilian. We will surely present you with a satisfactory gift of apology another day.”
Facing a senior emperor of an older generation, Lord Feilian felt a hint of intimidation. What Fucang said wasn’t wrong, he only dared to act fiercely in front of juniors. Even though he deeply resented Emperor Baize for coveting his hair over the years, he didn’t dare say it to his face. He simply stiffened his neck and snorted, “Emperor Baize, I don’t want any apology gift. Just hand this little brat over to me.”
